Hi, just a few more questions.
- While I play on PC and can therefore use OBS to record everything as well as use livesplit for my timer, my friend plays on Xbox and can only record the first ten minutes of his game and not use timers. Is that going to be a problem given that our current goal for speedrunning is All Maps - Small Maps - Perfect% - Duos and I can guarantee our run will last longer than that.
Apparently speedrun.com hates long messages, other question are in replies. (I was wrong, reason is in 3rd post)
-
In any% runs, if we can figure out the ghost through it's behaviour or ability, can we just circle evidence and leave knowing what it is? E.g. Twins speed or twinteraction, Yokai test, Deo breath or Mor sanity drain on Spirit Box, Wraith/Banshee/Phantom stalking, Thaye ageing on Ouija (prob not useful anyway for time).
-
Given that there are no runs currently for our current category goal mentioned in 1., if we go over the current time limit while still trying to go fast, will our run still be valid and the rules changed to suit the more predictable time limit for runs?
-
My friend and I do tend to curse quite a bit, especially when angry. (Disadvantages of being Australian I guess, yes we stereotype ourselves often). Is it fine if we submit a run even if it has excessive swearing. Just for your comfort and for those who want to watch the run.
-
If we screw up photos and are unable to delete them because of a full book or out of deletes, do we have to reset the whole run, or just that one level. I know later once runs become more optimised for time, a level screw up will essentially just be a reset, but while runs are still a later slower at first and they are seen as just a time loss are we still able to keep going. Referring back to my fourth question, if we reset a run and we go overtime (partially or possibly) because of it, is our run considered invalid?
-
If the ghost bugs in any kind of way, like getting stuck in a wall or somewhere absurd, to a point where the game becomes near impossible because the ghost can't give us stuff like freezing, dots, writing or spirit, are we allowed to use the ghost's ability or hunt gimmick to figure it out on runs not any%?
-
Could just be a game knowledge issue on my part, but if someone dies (Skill issue or deo/mimic troll), but gets revived (Monkey paw or Tarots), is the perfect% run still invalid after the death, or is it revalidated since all team members "survived" in the end? I don't know if it actually gives you a perfect investigation or not in-game anyway, since I've never tried or seen it happen.
-
Lastly, on no evidence runs of any%, 100%, and perfect%. If we see orbs and know it's mimic, are we allowed to immediately go for all the bonus stuff and leave on the latter categories, and straight up leave in any%? On the contrary, for 100%, perfect% and evidence% (not sure how that works) on 0 evidence, if it is a mimic, do we have to find the orbs? Technically they aren't considered as "evidence" in the game, but you never know.
For some reason it doesn't like my last question so here's a summary, rule eight says all mic audio must be recorded which might be a problem for my friend because he can't record for more than ten minutes. Does that mean in other runs I can talk to him via discord if he dies? Outside of perfect%.
Sorry for making you read these long paragraphs, I just don't want to get excited over a false world record because the run is invalid. If I have more questions I will make sure to ask, I will probably put them in my runs unless you want me to keep using the forum. Thanks :)
No worries, feel free to ask as much as you want. I'd however recommend instead joining and using our discord to ask questions since I think that would be more convenient!

As long as there is one full recording with a timer included it should be fine as long as all the evidence (like orbs or freezing), ghost behaviour for any% and photos is/are visible on that recording. Recordings from other players are only required in cases where important information like just mentioned isn't visible in the given recording.
-
Yes, for any% you just need to figure out the ghost without guessing and that's all you need to do, your examples are a good way for example
-
The time limits are fixed as they are and will only be changed if seemed necessary. Going over the time limits for harder runs like that usually isn't a problem as long as it's not a huge amount over the limit. Some limits like for all maps perfect% are a bit harsh I have to say so I'd understand runs taking significantly longer than that (in this example I'd say 3h is the absolute maximum, but don't take my word for it)
-
No worries lol, if it's suitable for Youtube then that's all that matters probably, so yeah it should be fine
-
You can restart then play a single (or multiple) map(s) again if you have to (like screwing up the photos, freezing taking too long, someone dying), but the time for the restarted map still counts. If you play Prison twice, then both times are counted towards the final time. The time limit rule is not correlated to resetting maps, so if you go way past the limit which would make the run invalid because a map is restarted then the run is still invalid.
-
No, for anything other than any% you always have to see all evidence, meaning if for some reason you become unable to do that you have to restart the map (or run). You can still figure out the ghost using a hunt for example to help with knowing which evidence you have to look for. But I don't think I've ever encountered any sort of glitches or bugs related to that, my worst case scenario was that the ghost just took a very long time to show stuff like freezing or dots given the circumstances
-
I think the rules don't really clear that up iirc so I might change that, but I think as long as both people are alive when the map ends it's fine, so yes if someone dies and you revive them the run still continues. BTW the game still shows a perfect investigation, even if everyone dies, you just won't get the usual rewards (but it obviously doesn't count for the perfect% category)
-
the "No Evidence" category is special in its way that you don't have to collect any evidence, you just have to figure out the ghost (without guessing of course). If you see an orb, it means it's a mimic and you don't have to do anything else towards deducting the ghost. If you know it's a mimic for example by it imitating two different ghosts for 2 different hunts then that also counts, the orb is just considered another "behaviour" so you're not required to see it.
10.? It's okay if your recording includes both your own and your friend's microphone, in that case he wouldn't need to record it. And yeah you can use whatever form of communication you want to like discord even if he dies. Also the rule with recording everyone's microphone isn't really that important anymore imo, it just becomes problematic when hearing the player becomes relevant to figuring out the ghost (like with testing during a hunt if it's a Yokai). It's best to use text recognition if you can't record someone's microphone, in that case make sure it's shown on the recording that it was used.
Full game perfect% is a tough category, especially if you want to be fast, so I totally get what you mean. Would actually love to hear about your progress, otherwise good luck!
With this new update comes an addition of a new IL - Point Hope, and a partial board archival for the categories: All Maps, Small Maps, and Perfect%.
This partial archival is due to the fact that the new map Point Hope, is considered by the devs to be a small map and as such it
