For my input on this, there should be a shorter 3 table or 5 table run that you complete by beating the required amount of tables (no score requirement). I also think that the 2600 and game boy versions of the game should be added to the games you can submit for.

These are just my ideas, post what your ideas are as i would like to see them and it would be easier for mods to find them.

Gameboy ghost patterns are identical to arcade.

They were done using a modified NES route from a long time ago. And in that Playlist, Pac-Man World 3, and the NES version are the ones with different patterns.

I didn't test obvious ones like the 2600, but there are some versions out there that should be tested to ensure that we don't make unneeded categories for versions.

That's the reason why there's currently 3 sub categories, as this is how me and PrinceRallis built the board at the time.

So, what versions should be grouped into one category and named accordingly due to ghost patterns? Ex.: Arcade/Game Boy

I'm leaning towards adding intermission speedrun categories to the leaderboard for each version and making 10,000 points a misc. category. What do you guys think about that?

If we were to add the 2600 version then that would be on its own due to maze layout, I think we should choose a main game though, the nes version is my favorite and is easy to use, someone else may say that the arcade version is better, I think that we should keep the existing games because they have a number of runs done for them, scrap pac-man world 3 as no one runs that game and its just the same as the other two. I also think we should keep 10K runs as it has a lot of runs done for it and still is challenging. I can see why you want it to be a misc but I would wait until more runs are done for new categories. Besides that, do what you want, I'm open to accepting new ideas and would be happy to give my opinion.

Side-note, what ever happened to ruse_sr? hes never on.

ruse_sr recently got back, he was gone for awhile. Pac-Man world 3 doesn't need to be scrapped, and as stated before Pac-Man World 3 is different from NES and Arcade.

Im cool with intermission categories. 10k as a misc category is a toss up tbh.

Don't add any more different categories for ports, keep arcade, NES and pac-man world 3. We should only add one or two more categories, otherwise Pac-Man will just get completely over saturated. Fastest to complete boards 1-5 and fastest to complete boards 1-21. A category for a "Perfect score" would be great but there wouldn't be enough people. Starcytas do whatever you want with setting up the categories. But just please don't be that moderator that adds 10 different categories/sub categories/miscs to the pac-man speed run page. It's debatably a simple game, just do categories that we'd find fun and challenging.

So yea boards 1-5 and 1-21 is what I'm voting for, but i really don't mind

I think chef is right, over saturating the categories isnt the answer, I also would either add bards 1-5 or 1-3 and 1-21 (Personally I would not play 1-21), but i dont care, they both sound fine. Also congrats chef on the WR.

P.S Sorry Lozplyr when I was talking about the different ports, I still sort of a noob when it comes to the different versions.

I can understand board 21 due to that being the 9th key, but wouldn't board 9, the position of the final cutscene, make much more sense than boards 3 or 5?

If we want the categories we add to not be arbitrary as heck, there should be some arguable reason to consider that point the "end" of the game. I simply don't see any such argument backing up boards 3 or 5.

uhg i hate when the loop phase comes in and gets rid of the more playable cartorgories, Here lets do 3 or 5 i dont care which will now become misc and lets make 1-21 or 9 a new main catergory.

nah like agree on a catergory i really like 3 or 5 but thats what i mean we need to decide 3 or 5 i would say 3 cause of the cutscene NOTE: im going of the Arcade version, ive never played Pac man on NES so im not sure of cutscenes

In my opinion Final Cutscene (stage 9 iirc) and 9th key (stage 21 iirc) are the categories that would make the most sense. Maybe 3 as a misc category or something.

Aquablake is right, the last cutscene is a good way to base a category behind. I still think 1-21 because the pattern after board 21 stays the same, and wouldn't be that much fun.

And I guess you could argue that level 21 is the end of the game. So we all going to agree on boards 1-9 and 1-21? I think that would honestly be a lot of fun.
