10 Clip Guide (1.4 ONLY)

I have seen many people on the forums and on the community Discord asking how to do this glitch, so here is an explanation.


Step 1:
Get into E State. E State is achieved by pressing down and reset at the same time.

Step 2:
Immediately after starting the level, jump up and dive onto the ground before the bounce pad. Your character should stand up with its sprite half stuck in the floor. If you turn on hitboxes, your hitbox will be standing horizontally on the ground.

Step 3:
Walk towards the bounce pad so that it bounces you up. Then, move left in midair to the wall. Before you hit the wall, release left and hit right for a short period of time. You will know if you did this correctly if your character is in the UWJ animation.

Step 4:
Spam up and smash right before you hit the spikes. This is frame perfect and may take a few tries to get right.

3 Useless Glitch Movements and How to do Them!

Hello OvO runners!

Here are 3 glitch movements in the game that are useless, meaning they save no time in any level. However, they are still cool to pull off, and you can learn how to do them here! All of them were discovered by me, Leetle Toady.

Leetle Dive - 
A slide jump GPC. To perform one, simply pound, then immediately slide jump then pound again. Inputs are: (after pounding) down up down very fast. If any of these movements will have a use, it's this one. It gives you max momentum while not going up very far!

BLJ Bonk Long Jump -
Sends you flying backward with max momentum, then flying forwards. The easiest way to pull this off is to backflip (slide jump then dive) into a wall. Doing so will send you backward. When you hit the ground, momentum jump off it to continue backward. Inputs are: down up down (to backflip), up. 

Toady Dive -
A dive jump GPC. This is by far the hardest trick to pull off in this guide. The idea is you want to do a GPC but then as you are traveling upwards in the pound animation, dive. There is a 3 frame window to do this, so it's very precise! If done correctly, you will dive but travel upwards for a short amount of time, then come flying down with pound momentum. Inputs are: (after pounding) up down (GPC) hold right down (dive).

Basic Glitches Guide

1. 1FSJ (1 Frame Super Jump) 
This glitch is done by pressing both down and up at the same time. It helps to use space instead of up. This glitch gives you a high amount of speed. After you 1FSJ you can do the same input when you hit the ground to do a Momentum Jump, or MJ.

NOTE: A 1FSJ can only be performed if you have just come out of a smash jump

2. UWJ or IWJ (Unlimited/Infinite Wall Jump) 
This glitch is performed by tapping both left and right on your keyboard while next to a wall. This glitch gets you stuck in a wall so you can go all the way up it.

3. GPC. (Ground Pound Animation Cancel)
This glitch is done by groundpounding and then jumping and groundpounding really quickly. The main purpose of this is to get a clip or an MJ really fast.

consistent 36 clip

after level 35 move your left hand to the arrow keys (or whatever keys you use to move). before you move them onto the keys you want to set up the unlimited wall jump (uwj). when that´s done, spam up with whatever hand your most comftorable with (i personally use my right hand), when you are spaming up, time your down presses with your other hand for more accuracy for a ground pound cancel (gpc). If you did it right and are spamming up, you should clip through the red hash marks and up to the flag. this clip saves up to around 25 seconds so its important that you learn it for top level speedrunning.

Easiest Ways to do Glitches

I've been "speedrunning" OvO for about a year, although I recently discovered other people doing it as well. PotatoJuiceUltra (who did most of the finding) and I discovered many of the same glitches that are used in speedrunning, and found more effective and consistent ways of doing them then most people know.

Main Glitches:

-Vertical Wall Jumps: (called wall clip by me and potato) 
	Be sliding on a wall, and then press the opposite direction key, and up at the SAME exact time. Even if you keep holding the opposite way you wont go too far. Then just spam up.

-One Frame Momentum Jump: (called superjump by me and potato)
	As you hit the ground from a smash, hit up, and then down a fraction of a second later. Then hold a direction key. Hitting up then down at the right speed takes practice, but I normally do it by sliding my middle finger from the up arrow to the down arrow.

Other Glitches:

-33 Skip:
	When you spawn, walk to the left or right onto one of the ledges. As the red door opens, fall through without hitting anything, then dive to the right, anytime before you hit the ground as long as you don't hit the wall. You should go through the floor, unless you are on certain computers like mine.

-36 Skip:
	This one is hard. Nobody has found a very consistent way, but messing around with the 2nd spike crusher thing can send you through the ground to the end. The edge of the crusher must hit you into the roof as it goes up. Example: https://youtu.be/MVL_wv5B5II 

-Flag Floor Clip:
	Anytime you are below the flag, (10,12,19,24,26,etc.), you can clip through the floor and hit the flag by diving underneath it, and then ground pounding when you are below the flag. Your hitbox will change to be taller, and your head will go through the floor.

-31 Fast:
	Level 31 goes by in just a few seconds but uses 3 different glitches. First, you superjump onto the front wall, and wall clip up on top. Then slide under the tunnel where the flag is and jump, and you will clip through and into the flag area.

How to do a Flip Glitch (Maybe a tad Useless, but fun to pull off)

you guys might already know what this is, or have done this glitch accidentally before, but here's what I found is best to pull off a  'flip glitch'.

To do this glitch, you have to be in the slide-jump animation. Whenever your character slide-jumps, it falls head first. This glitch seems to make the opposite happen.  To pull off this glitch, the second you slide, you just press up, then left and down at the same time immediately after. this glitch is pretty consistent and you can do it anywhere with a flat surface. But beware! If done incorrectly, you will just pound.  this may make you fall into spikes.

So far, this glitch does not save any time whatsoever, but may in the future. Well, have fun with the glitch!

How to get arrows to show on iPad!

Hello mobile players. Have any of you ever played on an iPad and the movement buttons don’t show up? There is a fix! This is very simple and is quite quick. All you need to do is go onto your ovo game on your iPad and once it is loaded, look for the Aa button on the left of your URL bar. This should be at the top of the screen. Press the Aa. There should be an option to request mobile site. Tap that. The page will reload and you will have arrows! Good luck speedrunning, and be sure to go zoom.

How To Make A Good Guide

There are many common pitfalls that can cause your guide to be unclear. The goal of this guide is to explain these problems and combat them, hopefully ushering in a new era of wonderful resources.

# First Person

Do not use first person language in your guides. This is basic English, but many people have fallen victim to this.

# Information

Please make sure that your information is correct, and make sure that your guide is not completely pointless, as your topic may have already been covered by others.

# Grammar and Punctuation

Please use correct grammar and punctuation in your guides. It is extremely hard to read sentences that do not have punctuation.

How To Properly Time Your Runs

Perhaps you've gotten a great run that you want to submit to the leaderboards. You can see the time that you got in OvO, but how do you convert that to Speedrun.com timing?

If your time in OvO shows 05:05:55, in Speedrun.com your time would be 5 minutes, 5 seconds, and 550 milliseconds, not 55. This is because OvO times in centiseconds, while Speedrun.com times in milliseconds. Since one centisecond is 10 milliseconds, you would need to multiply your centisecond value shown in OvO by 10, then put that value into Speedrun.com. In-Game time and time should be put as the same time unless you're using RTA. However, most people use the in-game timer of OvO. You might think that you shouldn't put a time for real time because you're only using the in-game timer of OvO, but in fact you should.

If you are still confused about timing your runs and what to put as your time for a run, look at some of the preexisting verified runs. They will all have the correct timing and you can essentially copy them.

This is really simple to do and saves a lot of time for the mods when verifying runs. Thanks for timing your runs correctly!

How to submit a run!

Hello I will tell you how to submit a run in OvO

1.so to first submit a run you have to go to https://speedrun.com/ovo  then go to the level you want to submit or if you want to submit a all levels speed run 

2. So to submit a level speed run you HAVE TO FILL EVERYTHING CORRECTLY or else the mods will have to fix it and don’t take time away from jalda(current WR holder) mods have a lot to verify so go to your level that you want to submit a run on then on the top right of your screen there should be a submit run button click that and it should take you to a submit run page so fill everything correctly because you don’t want to fill this another time so make sure to fill it out correctly so make sure you have the video link ready then click on the version you were playing on and then make sure you have the correct level after that fill out your time after that you want to click on the version you are playing on if you are having trouble with it I will break it down for you if you are on 1.4.1 that fall under the version 1.4 and same with the other versions then fill out if you used glitch’s or not and coins or not select the platform you are playing on then put the video link example Twitter video a twitch clip or a YouTube video then wait a couple of hours mods have a lot to verify be patient you run will eventually get verified-shotz, the bot developer

Level 36 clip

I have found a way to do the level 36 clip a lot easier which is almost luck but it is a lot faster than crobodile's  time

The way I did it is by sliding to just pass the 36 text then waiting for the 1st crusher to go up then waiting half a second then sliding and at the end of your slide so you do a normal jump then smash as the crusher goes up and hope to get pushed sown

Other glitches

This sort of continues what crobodile was saying:

Fast Jump glitch: If you do a dive jump, you can push jump on the same frame you land and keep all of your momentum. This is very inconsistent though, and the best way i have found to do it is to mash the jump button before you land. This glitch is super useful on levels with long, flat surfaces, and is the fastest way i know of to move normally.

Level 30 clip: This is by far the hardest glitch (besides some crazy TAS stuff) in the game. Basically, you can use the moving platform at the start of level 30 to clip out of the starting room. In order to do it, walk off of the platform and turn around right before it hits the wall. If you are (extremely) lucky, then you will clip out. It is very inconsistent though, sometimes clipping you into the wall (good luck), and sometimes clipping you all the way through the wall (bad luck). From there, you can wall clip to the platform above the spawn, do a super jump on the farthest right corner, wall clip off of practically nothing, and somehow get into the death zone without dying, in order to save a lot of time. (I'll put a video once i get the chance)

Weird ceiling clip (level 24): On level 24, you can do a precise dive to clip all the way through the ground. This is inconsistent, but it can save a decent amount of time. Do it coming into the main area from the coin area.

Starting out and developing stratagies

If you are just starting to speedrun OvO, great! I am not necessarily a "OG" runner myself, but I have been speedrunning OvO for long enough to understand the different strats and tricks, and maybe even share some tips of my own. So, lets begin. 

1: One of the first things you need to do when you're starting out is to get acquainted with the game. You are never going to get a good time if you don't know the game very well. First, beat all 40 levels and then go back to the levels you had a hard time beating. Practice the levels again and again until you have a better idea of how to do it. 

2: Then once you have the game under control, start trying to beat OvO in a fast time! Remember, if you practice enough, you will be sure to get a decent time. Or maybe the whole game sounds too overwhelming for you and you want to try something easier first. No problem, you can try to run individual levels. 

3: Develop new strats. It is important for you to try different routes and skips when speedrunning. Find a strat you like, and then practice it! Try different skips and glitches! 

4: Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you are feeling like the game is too hard, or you feel like your time isn't that great, ask for help! It's perfectly okay to ask for help from other people. Join the Discord server, to get talk with other OvO speedrunners and get tips and tricks from them! Don't be shy. 

5: Lastly, watch other people's runs. It is important to see how other people do it and maybe you might pick up some strats and skips you like!

Starting out in Tutorial%

I recommend just trying to go fast with basic mechanics before learning more advanced technique. Start getting fluid movement before getting into frame 1 momentum glitch (I'm gonna shorten this to F1M for convenience.) Fluid movement it this game allows for the highest possible momentum and accuracy. This can be taken into account for other categories. 
	Once you establish fluid movement, F1M can start to make an effect. This trick allows for times saves in levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (more detail later in the guide), 6, 9, 10, and 11. To start learning F1M, you must take notice of how you start a level. Always without fail, the level starts with you pounding. This pound acts like any other pound, which makes this trick beneficial. The frame you touch the ground, you want to execute a slide and a jump almost immediately after. The timing is fast, but going to fast will cause you to jump-dive (Not reset worthy while starting out, considering you get similar height and crossing most gaps you would use F1M). You want to be relaxed while preforming the trick so you don't rush it. This trick can also be preformed with a regular pound.
	Level 5 is a really good place to practice F1M, as to complete it optimally, you need to preform one to start, and one after the pound panel. This level also can show the difference between using and not using this tech. Momentum is key in this game, and this is the best currently know way to receive it it through this tech.
	Lastly, run IL's. This is generally a good strategy for speed-running any game, but the precision needed for this game brings records down to the second. Practicing single levels can help develop muscle memory between your hands and the techs and routes you're taking.

Understanding OvO's character hitboxes and hitbox manipulation

OvO's hitboxes are really weird. There are 3 categories of move hitboxes
-Vertical
This is the most common hitbox, found on the following moves: Standing, jumping, ground pound jump, walljump, running, bonking, grounded wall jump, and jumping after dive. These hitboxes are very simple and standard
-Horizontal
This hitbox only appears on dive and slide, but are very important for both death clips and ceiling clip. (the dive in particular will be very important) The hitbox also sticks out ahead of the character.
-Transitional
These are moves that have changing hitboxes mid move. The 1fsp and jumping after sliding are moves with this property. These aren't commonly used in clips (yet :) )

So what does any of this mean?

Well, on there own, nothing. But notice how I said the dive was important. The dive is the most usable way to clip your hitbox through ceilings and spikes. By diving at the right time, you can clip into the ceiling. Also by understanding this, it shows why the game registers certain "cheap" deaths. If your interested more in this stuff, got to 1.3 edition and use the debug mode to get a feel for the hitboxes in game.

Also fun fact cause I didn't know where to put this in the guide cause it isn't practical. If you bonk and fall for a good distance, you can notice the hitbox falls faster than the sprite.

OvO is a great game and to become the best of the best you must understand how to do the glitch so shotz what is a glitch 

Well glitches fall into 3 category’s 
1. Glitch movement 
2.levels glitches
3.banned glitches

What is a glitch movement?
Well a glitch movement is a movement that makes you go faster than usual a very simple example of a glitch movement is the 1fsj uwj and gpc the 1fsj makes you perform a fast big jump the uwj is a very useful glitch that allows you to get on a wall and be able to keep jumping and the gpc is a glitch that allows you to get the floor and perform a small jump all of those are very very useful glitches and you must master everything I tell you in this guide to push your self to your limits.
 

Level glitches!
For these, I would recommend looking at the world record.

So what is a level glitch?
A level glitch is a glitch that allows you to go through a wall or a place you would normally get to, like to preforms a ceiling clip I would go to level 24 and do clip you must dive to the wall, and as soon as you are under the ceiling press down once and you should be on top the ceiling also some other popular glitches are hesh clips like 36 which saves 24 seconds which you would want to know to get a world record and there is also a clip called a push clip which saves 16 seconds on level 30 so you would also want to look at the YouTube link I put all of these clips are super helpful and maybe you would beat the world record.


Banned Glitches!

What are banned glitches?

Banned glitches are a glitch that you preform but that move is illegal dedra games chosen if the glitch is illegal like the 17 computer glitch where you hit the spike but dive last second that makes your computer confused and it just makes your computer go to the flag there are a lot of other banned glitches but it’s like 11:00 were I am so I hope you find your full potential-shotz.

What Should I Use To Record My Runs?

Lately, there have been a lot of people submitting runs to the leaderboards without video proof. It is very understandable that people struggle finding recording software that works for them, but unfortunately we must reject any runs that do not have a video to accompany the time. I have made this guide to help anyone who doesn't know what to record their runs with, and I hope you are able to use one of the softwares that I list.

If you want to run full game speedruns, you need a good recorder that will not lag your game down. OBS is the software that most speedrunners turn to, as it has proved itself to be a very effective and convenient. If OBS is not something that suits your fancy, using Windows 10 gives you a free recorder in the Windows GameBar, which you can access by pressing win-g. Bandicam is also a good recording software that does not lag your game too much. If using a Chromebook, there is now a built-in ChromeOS screen recorder that you can use, but people have reported success with Nimbus, a Chrome extension. IOS users can use the Screen Record button to record their runs. If all else fails, pointing a camera at your monitor should suffice. Please make sure that all aspects of your game are visible throughout the entire recording.

If it isn't too laggy, you could also stream your run in the Discord server with a mod watching so that they can verify it. This is not a good method of getting your runs verified, and I deeply discourage it.

IL, or Individual Level runs give a lot more flexibility as to what you use to record it, as the game allows you to download replays that you can record, allowing you to use laggier recording softwares that would normally impede you if you were to perform the run live. You can download replays by turning on advanced mode in the settings of OvO.

Screencastify is a slightly laggy Chrome extension that lets you record your runs without much of a hassle, nor a download. This makes it relatively popular among school Chromebook users that cannot download any outside softwares. I'm sure that there are other, more niche recorders for Chromebook users, but I've seen the most people use Screencastify.
