Why are most bhops banned ?
Getting consistent bhops depends on your FPS. To keep the speedrun fair, the Outlast community decided to ban bhops.

Why did we chose to allow Unintentional Bhops and Strat Bhops ?
- Allowing the unintentional bhops is required since the runner can't do anything to avoid them without losing time.
- We decided to allow strat bhops since they make speedruns and especially IL's more interesting. Banning those would have required to ban some iconic strats like bhop superman.
More details on what is an unintentional bhop:
What is NOT an unintentional bhop:
This bhop doesn't fit as unintentional since you have no reason to do this jump other than getting a bhop. If you were to fail the bhop, you would lose time.
What IS an unintentional bhop:
Both of these bhops fit as unintentional since you would jump there even if it wasn't for the bhop.
- Doing a jump on the barrel is the fastest way to get down, regardless if you get a bhop or not.
- Jumping after landing is the fastest way to get to the door, regardless if you get a bhop or not.
More details on what is a strat bhop:
What is NOT a strat bhop:
This bhop is only faster because bhopping is faster than running. As a result, it is not a strat bhop.
What IS a strat bhop:
Bhop superman is a strat bhop because the bhop allows you to get on the railing without having to build up speed again. Therefore, it saves way more time than what a bhop would normally save.
Note a strat bhop is only allowed if it is consistent on 62 FPS.
After discussing this a lot, the Mod Team decided that Buttbounces are now officially allowed in the Glitchless category!
Why the change?
- A buttbounce is only a visual effect, it behaves exactly like a regular jump.
- Buttbounces only save about 3-4 frames whi
