https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=gyBIgIj5vF8 is this glitched one cycle useful in any way? im just wondering because ive seen a lot of bad lakithunder battles in cannonless. the setup for this trick is extremely consistient and easy to learn. if this trick is useless just tell me and ill remove this thread.

The problem with your trick is that you'll need the shell for it. And since you need mini Mario to get to world 7 and the 7-4 secret exit you keep mini Mario and therefore enter the castle as mini Mario. There is also at that point no really fast way to get the shell in your inventory. So you enter the castle as mini Mario and refill to fire Mario since this level is more or less an auto scroller. (Unless you have the capabilities to do TAS tricks of course ;) ) So this is why I don't think this trick is really useful.

ok so the gist of it is that you have to do a weird route to get blue shell in inventory that is likely really slow with rta strats.

If you were wondering, the reason I have blue shell at that part in cannonless is because I use a kind of weird powerup route. I get fire in 1-1, blue shell into inventory in 1-toad house, use the shell from my inventory in 2-Castle, get a second blue shell in my inventory from the block in 3-1, get the mini shroom from the block in 5-Castle, then use the blue shell in my inventory in 7-Castle. I'm not sure if it's the fastest powerup route for RTA.

as long as your route doesnt lose 10-20 seconds to conventional rta strats leading up to the boss fight than this is an overall timesave, and you enter world 8 with shell.

I think I remember it being possible to do the quick kill without the shell, and it might even be quicker. I'll have to test that out.
