How to do Funtastic Forest Skip (In depth guide)

Part 1: How the skip works

Looks pretty simple right? Well there's a lot of factors you might miss here. First off, to do this skip, you must understand how it works. Logan Kart 8 has checkpoints scattered around the map. If a checkpoint is hit, you will be teleported back to that checkpoint when the player enters a death barrier. (ie: water in Funtastic Forest) A lap will count when the player goes around the goal line, so if you go through the goal line backwards, it will prevent the lap from counting, thus to prevent going in circles around the goal to win a stage. So the skip works by going past the goal and teleporting around it to trick the game into thinking the player went around the entire track.

Part 2: Doing the skip

This is a map of Funtastic Forest with some marks in it. The purple mark represents the goal, and as you can see it stretches into the out of bounds area. The blue and red marks represent checkpoints. (Note: These marks are not in the exact place as the checkpoints. The image is a rough map of the checkpoints) Touching the blue or red marks will cause you to respawn at that location. Even though the red and blue marks have the same function, they are marked differently because the red mark is the checkpoint you want to activate. Driving over the checkpoint will activate it. The checkpoint is on the place marker in red on this image: https://i.imgur.com/yKNE7V8.png (Note: checkpoints are invisible and you cannot see them in game) After you activate that checkpoint, enter the patch of grass to the left of the red bar in that image and you're on to your next step. After that go across the track like this: https://i.imgur.com/U2hwGfE.png following the green line in that picture. Try to stay close to the wall. When you approach the finish line pass it while still staying close to the wall. After you cross the goal line you will notice this patch of grass: https://i.imgur.com/6lnGZB1.png Drive into it then turn counter clockwise and drive along the slanted portion of the track until you get to the left of the tree like this: https://i.imgur.com/1pCnYhS.png Now there is something important you must know to do the next step. Take a look at this image: https://i.imgur.com/K1zWUeT.png The blue circle is the tree you should be next to, the red circle however shows a pattern. Two green marks (visible in game) on the slanted portion of the track. After you pass the tree count 6 green marks then drive into the water where the sixth green mark is. You should respawn here: https://i.imgur.com/yKNE7V8.png and then cross the finish line and if it goes to the next lap, you did everything correctly. If you don't respawn there, then It likely will not work, and here's why. If you respawned here: https://i.imgur.com/XasI5sZ.png then the respawn would look like this: https://i.imgur.com/iRriH4q.png (The respawning is colored in cyan in that image) This will not work because you are going through the goal backwards instead of going around the goal which will prevent the lap from counting. It should look like this: https://i.imgur.com/mcMZ9rK.png As you can see, the cyan line in the second image is not crossing the finish line (purple) unlike the first image.

How to Run All Cups

All Cups is where you do every cup in the game, from start to finish.

The starting line is at Edwin's Farm in the first cup, and the finish line is on the final lap of the Fractured Light Blvd. in the Very Special Cup.

So, I'll break down each cup and give my advice to the best of my abilities.

First Cup (Crappy Random Stages That No-one Wants to Play Cup)

All the tracks in the first cup are rather easy, and all of them require 5 or more laps.

Edwin's farm is just an oval, but you can finish it in about a minute or so, depending on luck.

Roundabout is the only circular track, and the only one to have 9 laps because laps take about 4 seconds each. You can finish this track in about 40-45 seconds.

Toddler Park is a thin oval, and the only track to have 7 laps because laps take about 10-12 seconds. You can finish this in about 1:15.

Miserable Rainy Stage is the last race of the cup, and the last track to have 5 laps. Laps take about 20 seconds, barring bad item hits or players accidentally getting rammed into walls or driving into walls. Race time is around 1:40.

Second Cup (Clogan Cup)

The titular Clogan Circuit is first, and is the first "standard" track with 3 laps. Laps take about 45-50 seconds, since the track is fairly long. Race time is going to be around 2:30 to 3 minutes flat.

The I-5 Loop is the second track, and the first track to only have 2 laps. Laps take over a minute to do due to length and the car obstructions in the second half of the course. Race time will be around 2:30 or greater, depending on luck.

The Sea-Tac Circuit also has 2 laps due to it's sheer length, but it's the 3rd track in the cup. Laps take around a minute or more because of tight turns and luck. Race will last about 2 minutes or greater.

The Moon is the final track of the Cup, and goes back to the normal 3 lap tradition. Laps take around 50 seconds because the track is fairly lengthy and wild turns may throw you off. Race time is going to be around 2:30 to 3 minutes.

Third Cup (Waluigi Cup)

The Parking Lot is the first track of the cup, and has 3 laps. Laps take around 20 seconds, because the track is rather short and not very difficult. Race will be around a minute or greater, depending on luck.

The Offshore Platform is the second track, and also has 3 laps. Laps take about the same length as the last track because of it's rather short length. Race will be around a minute or greater, depending on luck and speed.

The Funtastic Forest is the third track, and yet again has 3 laps. Laps take around 35-40 seconds as this track is a modestly long track to get around. Race will be around 1:30 to 2 minutes.

The Waluigi Vending Machine is the titular track of the Cup and the final track as well. Laps take around 50 seconds or more, since there are holes, very little railing, and the potential of flipping over is high. Race will be around 3 minutes.

Final Cup (Very Special Cup)

The Lame Kiddie Pool is the first track of the final cup, and has 3 laps. Laps will be around 30-35 seconds as the track is a bit twisty and turny, along with the general luck and skill of the player. Race will be around 1:30 to 2 minutes.

The Construction Zone is the final "standard" track as it's the final track with 3 laps. Laps will be around 25-30 seconds, since this track encourages high speed. Race will be around 1:30.

Notreal is the second-to-last track, and returns to the 2-lap tradition from the Clogan Cup. Laps will be around a minute or more, since the track is fairly lengthy and twisty. Race will be around 2 minutes or more, depending on luck and speed.

And finally, The Refracted Light Blvd. is the final track of the game and the Cup. Laps will be around 1:30 because this track is like Rainbow Road in Mario Kart. Very few railings, plenty of fall off chances, and the usual luck-based item roulette. Race will be around 3 minutes.

I recommend using 150cc for your runs, as that's the fairest engine class and provides the most control over your kart.

How to Run Construction Zone

Construction Zone is a fairly short track, residing in the 2nd spot in the Very Special Cup.

Depending on the engine class, the laps could be anywhere from 23 seconds all the way up to 40-45 seconds.

And while CZ has no particularly broken skips, you can skim across the sand at the end.

However, on the slower engine classes (i.e 50, 100, 150), this only saves about 1-2 seconds at the most.

The higher engine classes (i.e 200 and 250) also carry the risk of flipping you around and most likely resulting in a reset of you try to skim the sand.

In the higher classes, make sure to slow down before you take the plunge down below, otherwise the physics engine will have it's way with you, and you'll have to most likely reset.

Overall, times can vary from around 1:09 to around 2:15.

Of course, the current 50cc WR disagrees with my range, but that's not the point.

How to Speedrun Logan Kart 8

This Guide will have 3 sections to it, 'The Basics', 'The More Complex Stuff' and information for 'Individual Levels', experienced players can probably skip 'The Basics.'


The Basics:


Class:
First things first, I have to recommend something that contradicts CyAmethyst's guide, and that is you should always use M250CC (a.k.a 250CC) class for the fastest times possible.
If you want to practice with a lower 'CC' class and then move up to 250CC that is fine but I just recommend going straight to 250CC and getting used to the speed and handling.
TL;DR: 250CC.

Starting the race:
Just accelerate when the countdown is on '2'.

Cornering:
This is mostly common sense but most people I see are still take the corners way too wide, for the fastest lap time possible you need to be as far inside of the corner as possible without hitting the wall. Your speed around a corner should also be as fast as possible, if you have a kart with a high amount of handling then consider taking most corners without any brakes.
TL;DR: Fast and close to the inside wall.

Handbrake?:
No.

Kart:
In my runs I have only used the 'Shopping Cart' and the 'Standard Kart,' not enough testing has been done to say which kart are definitively the fastest for each cup, but these are my recommendations;
Crappy Random Stages That Nobody Wants To Play Cup: Shopping Cart
Clogan Cup: Standard Kart
Waluigi Cup: Shopping Cart
Very Special Cup: Standard Kart
Note: It is possible that the 'Shopping Cart' is fastest on all cups but we are not certain about that yet.

Power Ups: 
In this section we are only going to be talking about the power ups you get in 1st place, because that is the place you should be around 90% of time.
Possible 1st place Power Ups:
Green Shell, Triple Green Shell, Banana, Triple Banana, Red Shell, Fake Power Up, Triple Red Shell.
Power Ups you should keep:
Triple Green Shell, Triple Banana, Triple Red Shell.
With these Power Ups you should hit your Power Up key once and have them circling around your kart to stop yourself from getting hit, also there is a handy thing you can do with them written in the Complex section.
All other Power Ups should be thrown out of the way and wasted. 
Note: Be careful when getting rid of a single green shell, you can hit yourself with it when it ricochets, if you can't throw it away safely just keep it.


The More Complex Stuff:


Optional Bullet Bill Strat:
On most maps you can save a couple seconds by being in last place at the first row of Power Ups, you need to get a Bullet Bill first try or else it is a waste of time, I recommend this strat if you don't mind resetting a lot. Also I only recommend trying this on the first map of a run.

Banana Strat / Shell Strat:
When you near inevitably get hit by a blue shell, you can save a little bit of time by shortening the animation of being exploded, what you need to do is run over a banana or hit a shell just before the blue shell explodes on you, this is where 'Triple Banana' and 'Triple Green Shell' are useful, you can throw these Power Ups and run in to them or look for other Power Ups on the track that you can crash into to shorten the animation.

Double Space Glitch:

This is a very minor time saving glitch (<1 second), simply if you start the race rolling backwards wait till the countdown is on '3' and quickly tap space twice, this should cause you to start rolling forward, the timing of the presses don't need to be precise, but they do matter a little.

Side Ramp Boost:

This is fairly simple but not easy, if you see a ramp that is coming out of the ground that you can drive next to, you can get boost from it without driving up it, just drive as close as possible to it and you will usually get boost.


Individual Levels:


Clogan Circuit: If you are using the 'Shopping Cart' as recommended, then you will need to slow down for the ramp, letting go of the accelerator a short distance from the ramp is enough.
I-5 Loop: On the part of the track that you are in traffic stay to the far left close to the wall to avoid being hit.
Lame Kiddie Pool: Best map to try using the Bullet Bill Strat.
Refracted Light Blvd: There is a shortcut on this map that you can see in Sodyn33's, Gizzy's and my run of 'Very Special Cup'. As far as I know Sodyn33 was the founder of this shortcut so credit to him I believe.
Waluigi Vending Machine: When going down the massive drop near the end of course I recommend always going down the center, it seems to be the fastest and safest way down the drop.
