About Learn Chess

Learn Chess is a chess game created by the now-defunct DreamCatcher, released first on 12/29/2009. It is a DS-exclusive game for teaching people how to play chess. Visuals can be seen here: https://www.video-games-museum.com/en/game/Learn-Chess/81/5/40493

Beating Learn Chess: Beating the game can be done in one of three modes Minor, Middle, or Major. The objective is to win back all 16 of Giselmunds's, your castle-bound ghost mentor, chess pieces from Drago, a chess-loving pirate captain. To unlock Drago, you must first best Giselmund in a match. Drago requires defeat in 16 different games, one for each chess piece. The tutorial rooms are optional, depending on the category you play.

How To: The AI is obviously weak. We always play as White. Luckily, both the ghost and pirate, use the same AI. They always begin the game with 1... d5, Black's queen pawn forward two spaces. There are no doubt numerous ways to exploit this. Logically, gambits are an option. Currently, I exploit the Blackmar-Diemar Gambit in Major mode, which I have made a guide on. New gambits and/or strategies are always welcome.
