Hey guys, I came up with an idea for a new Hollow Knight Speedrun. Here is a video of one of my first attempts. I would love to see this become an official category. If anyone wants to give this a try, please share your times!

This route is already really close to the 4 Mask Shards category, where the only offset is rescuing a grub on the way to mawlek, so I don't see this becoming a category extension.

BTW there's is a guide by fireb0rn for a load time remover in LiveSplit, which you can find in "Guides" :)

Hey, I was actually was thinking about asking this too, but then I saw this. I understand this probably won’t be added, but I’ll try running this too just to spread awareness of this not popular category.

Got a sub 3 min run on my first attempt. It can be improved probably by not getting hit and not doing hard falls.

It looks like folks are into this. I'm not a mod here, but

• If you want the runs to be valid per the game rules, start your recording at the title screen, so the verifier can see the patch number and check that there are no mods installed
• Use the autosplitter/load remover for Hollow Knight: https://www.speedrun.com/hollowknight/guide/cg9vl
• If this were a category, timing would almost certainly end at the "Brooding Mawlek (boss)" autosplit. Select that, and check the box for "end-triggering autosplit". Watch when it splits here: ; it's basically on the last hit.

I think following all these conventions would (a) give consistency to compare amongst yourselves and (b) make a unified case for mods to add it

Again, I'm not a mod, but that's how I would go about advocating for a new category
