Attaining a better PB

Try watching closely or remembering, that is if you did record attempts or remember your better runs, what you did one of the times that would've gotten you a better run, whether it's a better checkpoint time (check when time extension says "#.## AHEAD") or race time overall, and compare to it to how you normally complete a level to see what keeps you behind.
E.g. I (donnaken15) was running Hong Kong Buoy on a livestream for a new PB, and found that saving super boost up to the second checkpoint at the tunnel to hover over a part of land with the boost was faster than how I would normally do it, going on water and making a bare turn.

Fixing Vsync

Because apparently the game doesn't cap to 60fps, which in turn speeds up the game.

- You can use RivaTuner Statistics Server from MSI Afterburner to limit the framerate of specific applications or all applications that use Direct3D or OpenGL.

- If you have Nvidia, you can also open your Nvidia Control Panel and set the hZ on your GPU or monitor to 60 hZ temporarily.

- Bandicam has a frame rate limiter option, though due to the loading screen, sometimes it will lose the graphic hook upon starting a race so framerate resets, but it may be reset by alt-tabbing or waiting for it to hook again, or hitting record on the loading screen.

Speed Advantages

- At the start of a race, hold throttle in reverse. When the announcer goes on "Three," hold throttle forward, and vice versa for "Two" and "One," and you'll get a little speed boost and either a +1.0 or +3.0 boost, depending on your boat level.
- If you get the above speed boost, a few seconds after starting, try hypersliding to go faster than you would by accelerating using the standard boost.
- The granted amount of speed from hypersliding varies depending on how its used or where, noticeable in areas like the beginning of Wild America. Areas, as such, that have a visible current may cause the boat to fly out of water for a moment.
- Hull a Hull Crusher crate to crash anyone near you and get their boosts for a short period of time.
- Hull the buoy with eyes to get additional boosts from players that get hit by the buoy. It can be hulled multiple times which can be useful in Frozen Tundra and Down Underdrive. This requires a level 40 boat.
- Having a level 40 boat will override its skill values (speed, power, boost, and stability) and put them at the maximum value, and of course will mean having all the upgrades. However, different boats will still have their advantages and disadvantages over others, [such as Raw Thrills slowly deploying super boost engines to allow the player to use it, in comparison to Scorpion (which deploy near instantly).](https://www.speedrun.com/h2o/forums/zpj9o)
- Try getting some air time in straight paths, while using either a boost or (recommended) super boost to lose more friction as you aren't in water. It isn't fully confirmed, but just having super boost after using a little of it seems to lower the friction that slows you down when in water, or doesn't dampen the horizontal speed while in the air compared to the moment after it depletes. An example of this includes Hong Kong Buoy and Wild America just after the first checkpoint, and Temple of Flume after the last checkpoint.
- The above method can be more efficient when hopping after using the super boost.
- Hypersliding in water after reaching a very high MPH can help you maintain your speed most of the time, specifically after a super boost.
- Going over ground, such as the secret building in HK, a wooden platform in WA, or in a test level, will usually cause less friction. It just works that way apparently. (lol)
