User is banned from moderating

This is a thing? Why is this the case? I was panning on adding someone to moderate a game and it just gives this error (but with the user's name instead of "user"). They were previously banned for being underage (but are now of-age to use the site) would this be it? Never heard of something like this before.

I'm pretty sure it's a thing where site staff can blacklist users from becoming a mod. @RENI and @Firewall can't be added to games anymore because they were mod collecting, for example. Contact someone on site staff to see if you can get it fixed.

Reached out to them. after seeing Merl's response, forgot to mention that here

"can't be added to games anymore because they were mod collecting" at that point cant we just make a hard cap on moderated games?

Valhalla

Because if they're capable of modding that game, there shouldn't be a problem. Mod collecting or whatever, I'm assuming is just getting added as mod despite not running the game. Yeah that shouldn't be allowed but what can you do.

The problem with mod collecting isn't having a large number of moderated games, for example, @Otterstone_Gamer moderates more games than anyone else on the site, and I think that he has at least one run in almost all of them. The problem is when users seek out moderation roles in games they aren't active in or don't run, or when users are especially pushy or annoying, asking for mod roles multiple times wherever they go.

nah the problem is also literally moderating a ton of games.

  • you cant have expertise in 100 games or so
  • if you are gone a ton of games will have problems
  • those games will be negleted moderators which have a low amount of games handle them differently than moderators with a ton of games.
  • the site is barely made to actually moderate that many games.
  • or last you basically just are listed as a mod and actually do nothing

Modcollection by requesting "spam" games and pushing other people to add them is also bad. But overextending also has all the same end reasons why its bad.

Just doing a run to get moderator would mean that you can do a 2 second run in 50 games, and then you get 50 games that you mod

@Bob-chicken im not saying that every person who does a run should get mod of that game

I only add people to games I mod if they have a mid level time at least, because I want to make sure that the moderators actually give a shit about the game.

There are a lot of requirements and rules for moderators, and they are displayed in a huge text doc that people don't want to read, so they don't know that it's bad to add randoms to games. Mod collectors exploit that, and that's why they always end up getting blacklisted.

Also, otterstone_game has thousands of verifications, is extremely active, and moderates mostly quiet games. I don't think any of those leaderboards are experiencing any problems.

According to site staff he's banned from modding because he's not 16. Apparently despite it being a preference that games mods are 16+, he just straight up isn't allowed to do it since they know he isn't.

@Merl_ yeah ik I’m just saying that’s what someone did before going inactive

The DM mentioned word for word that it was a preference unlike the rules.
