I want to change my SRC location to Indonesia, but I'm currently not in Indonesia right now. When I change location to Indonesia, it says "You are not in Indonesia. Please set your location correctly. Anyone help?
There are several threads with the same question. Due to some legal reasons (?), you can't set to countries in eastern Asia if you don't physically live there. I still don't really understand it.

Nah, Jk I'm pretty sure a site mod can set it for you? Don't quote me on that cuz idk
You'll have to send an email to support@speedrun.com asking them to change it for you, they're the only ones that can help you with this.
@Oreo321 It's not a legal issue. Back in the day a very large number of users were spoofing their locations to east Asian countries (more than 2/3 for some countries apparently), so restrictions were put in place to stop people from doing that.
@ShikenNuggets Pardon my ignorance on this matter, but why restricting the country matters in that case? As far as I have seen, countries on the site are used to represent the users country if they want to, and also to search for users in the same country.
The reasoning given at the time was something along the lines of 'people in X country would be annoyed to see a bunch of Americans listed as living in their country', or something like that. With the site having hundreds of thousands of users now I'm not sure how relevant that really is, but I guess it was important to somebody back then.
Indonesian living overseas here as well. I've asked about this when this rule was first made, and I argued that there's lots of Indonesians and other Southeast Asians living outside of their country.
Pac said there's lots of people from western countries putting Asian flags, which I'm skeptical about cause I rarely see Asian flags outside of Japan in almost all leaderboards. I showed evidence of how common overseas traffic are, by showing some Indonesian-language websites and one Philippines site with lots of traffic from outside Asia.
Some time later, Pac told me that you can put an Asian flag by using proxy from an Asian country, and it won't get changed back after you turned the proxy off. So @Mahfy3w you can try this if you really want to.
I still think this rule isn't necessary, and there's plenty of examples on other notable speedrunners falsely using a non-east Asian flag.
