I want to be able to make quality guides but i don't know how to give it a nice format, i have the ideas but i will apreciate if someone let me know how to insert videos, images if it is posible and what tips you guys have to make a guide more apealing to the learning users
you can just add youtube videos straight up, but for images, and possibly videos, just upload it to imgur, copy the image link then paste it in the guide
In my experience, it helps if the guide:
- Sticks to explaining mechanics
- Has pictures where they're worth more than words
- Assumes that the player is new to the game
- Has a good amount of quick reference information that remains useful for experienced runners
- Good use of emphasis (bold, italics, color highlighting)
I've come to like guides just being text documents, but that's just so I can download them to have them at hand whenever.
I've written some guides before, but I can't say they're that good. While I like routing, I tend to find writing extensive guides kinda boring despite being a long-winded person.
I found this guide to be rather top tier, personally: https://www.speedrun.com/ffcc/guide/g4kpi
@ElGanZo See this thread for how formatting on this site works. Unfortunately, there's no preview option for guides, but hopefully that'll become available in the future.
I wish that guides allowed comments in response—it'd be nice to be able to give & receive feedback directly to them.
