@Camcorder how about there being a checkbox next to the flags, which the user can check. Where that checkbox sets a user's "primary flag" which is returned by the backend along with the user's other data. Where "primary flag" is the flag's ID
Although, I think you're confused by what I initially meant by a user choosing what flag they want shown
I think that I understand your original suggestion - there used to be a "rootlocation" setting for users. The influence of that setting was pretty complicated (and inconsistent) under the hood, having different effects on various parts of the site, and being more-or-less effective in various parts of the site based on the location chosen (not all locations were treated equally!)
We like the idea of offering customization options, but want it to be done in a fair and consistent manner. We fixed the issue with nested countries today (sorry for that bug!), but probably won't iterate further until next year.
Them not being treated equally was intended, I think
Also the new setting doesn't have to work like the old one at all - with all the locations not being treated equally
It doesn't have to be the same implementation of that setting, just letting users choose which flag shows And it does seem simple enough to add
But what's immediately next? Will the leaderboards keep on being polished? e.g. Miscellaneous sub-categories and removing the URL encoded filters
@KilleDragon use a search engine to help you, @Camcorder isn't going to respond anymore lol
ETA stands for, in this context, estimated time of arrival
Didn't know you are camcorder, help sheriff bacon
@Matse007 do you really expect @Camcorder to respond? What's wrong with what I said?
@YUMmy_Bacon5 thanks lol probably could have thought that, but tbf searching "ETA" gives results of something quite worse lol
oh my goodness KilleDragon's not even joking. But the proper definition is the second result down to be fair
