Is this working as intended?

In one of my boards we have a category with variables that don't obsolete themselves. The first-place runner also has a lesser run with a different variable (the variable is character class). His user page shows him having both 1st and 3rd places for that run (3rd being where his lower run would fall if it counted as normal).

The runner who is actually in 3rd place (4th best run showing) also has it on his user page that he is 3rd in that category. So....is this correct? Is this how the site is supposed to deal with this scenario?

What is the game? Might be easier to see what you mean rather than trying to figure it out from the description.

I know we had a lot of issues getting the layout of the Streets Of Rage 4 boards correct due to i) the 6 categories per ii) the 17 players and iii) the major new balance changes with V5 essentially changing the whole game.

I think this behavior makes sense. Think about what would happen if the "class" variable would obsolete itself - Lukane would be in third place, and Shoodang will be in first place; but Shoodang will also have an obsolete run which would theoretically be in third place too. The places are determined by different people, not how many different runs someone has.

Yeah, so the "class" is sort of like "character" problem with SOR4.

Rather than having one board and having to use filters, we instead split the boards twice, first by character and then by difficulty.

So if you think this looks weird for your game, what you could do instead of filters is have Bronze as a category, then classes as sub categories. So rather than the three boards currently existing, you would have twelve boards.

That's one way to get around it.

Nah, that would be categoryitis. The board as it is is fine, the only part that made me a little curious was 3rd place showing up on both users' pages.

That still makes sense to me. As I said, the "obsolete" run by Shoodang (which is not obsolete in terms of the class variable, but still obsolete in terms of the runner), is technically "third place" in terms of positioning in the runs list. The run by Lukane is third place in terms of the runners - That person is the person on third place.

Let's take an extreme example - If a single runner would have best times in 5 different classes, and then a second runner will have a run with a certain class but behind all other 5 runs. Would that second runner be in second place, or sixth place?
