I know for a fact that they actually do read those tickets. They don't acknowledge or implement everything that comes in, of course, but there's a big difference between having priorities and just not bothering to even read any of it at all.
@Meta is literally the only person who does reports. so its all up to it.
Remove the ability to link to messages deleted by staff or by author
Additionally, send a 404 for links to the deleted comment until it's restored.
Sort support tickets by date (asc/desc), status (alphabetic asc/desc), and subject (alphabetic asc/desc) on https://www.speedrun.com/support/tickets
Might also be nice to filter by status or subject.
Threads listed on a user's profile used to show all threads. Now only leaderboard-related threads are shown. I'd like it if this functionality was returned.
Might also be nice to sort and filter threads.
I think it would be a good idea to lock all threads that haven't been interacted with for over 3 months to prevent necroposts.
For instance, there are some threads from 2014 that aren't locked and are just waiting to get necroed, for example: https://www.speedrun.com/forums/the_site/2ezcw
Update: I meant this mostly for the site forums. Game threads should be locked by game mods.
I kept getting "comment is too long" when submitting a speedrun and wondered why. I think it's because text links add to the character count. That shouldn't be the case.
Also, I'll ask for it again:
- The error text should be "Maximum character length exceeded (2000)"
- Add small text showing the number of characters you have left while typing.

The problem with any specific limit is there are threads where there's not necessarily much to post for a given stretch of time, but are still relevant over a year later. For example, some people have set bounties that last over a year, and there are threads in specific games where people periodically make progress understanding some aspect of how the game works.
It'd be better if there were actual forum mods to just close threads that definitely aren't relevant anymore.
I see no issue with site threads specifically being automatically locked after a while (3 months might be a little soon, I'd say more like a year or two). There are almost zero situations where necro'ing an 2+ year old thread is better than just making a new one (and at worst, just link the old thread in your new one if the additional context is super important, no big deal), particularly since so much about the site has changed in the last few years that all the old threads are horribly outdated and just confuse people. Forum moderators would be great too, but they can only do so much. I don't really expect them to go out of their way to look through 10 years of old threads to manually lock, and it's not always obvious that a thread has run its course until much later.
When/if game threads get locked should be left to the discretion of the game moderators. Having an option for that would be nice, though.
I agree with the suggestion from @ShikenNuggets
Maybe if we also had an improved quoting or embedding system for linking different threads, that would be even better. Something like displaying the title of the thread as an embed or something like that. Hopefully the forums do get a more proper rework and not just a quick facelift down the road.
