This is literally the stupidest thing that anyone has made on this site. And I hate it so much.

On the forums there is a "views" count column for each thread, but it's not shown on mobile.
I really don't understand what you all like about this. YEAH! I REFRESHED THIS PAGE 5000 TIMES! SO MUCH FUN PRESSING THAT REFRESH BUTTON! THIS PAGE IS VERY IMPORTANT!
It's literally calling out someone else for trying to do exactly this. The irony is deadly. And further ironic when you consider how hard Merl is on forum spam.
If this was in the speedrunning, site, or any other forum then there would be a problem, but the talk forum is meant for stuff like this. Just to have a good time. Sort of like a general chat on discord.
Maybe I'm just an old fart but I don't see the fun in giving the thread views just so it has views. Yes, this is talk. But this isn't talking.
I also think it's lame that it's only getting views from people constantly refreshing the page instead of having a reason to look at it. If I may make an analogy, it's like if a video became the most viewed video on Youtube because of viewbots or buying views. Yes, it got there. But not organically.
I never actually intended for my post to be view-bait, but here we are. I think that there are two reasons that so many people are participating.
- some kid decided to beg for clout(?) and got denied, so I guess it's funny to give someone else the views instead, even if it's the exact same as botting the other person's post.
- Since a lot of people decided to do it ( @1 , @thanksdude ), a lot of people just decided to do what everyone else was doing, like herd mentality. It's sort of the same thing as liking a youtube comment you didn't think was that funny just because it got a heart from the youtuber or something like that.
