Linux Llanfair timer; AutoSplit or key spam protection?

Hi all!

First time posting. I've recently picked interest on hopping back to speedrunning but as I've changed my OS to Linux (POP_OS), I need to start using Llanfair split timer. (Couldn't get LiveSplit to work through Wine).

Does anyone know if there would be anyway to get a AutoSplit function on Llanfair or if there would be a way to enable protection for key spam?

I have a bad habit of double pressing my split hotkey lol.

Thank you for any help already!

You would have to program your own autosplitter. There is not autosplitting feature on llanfair and on linux in general. The Splitter is not updated since 2017, I recommend using either Livesplit one, a llanfair fork such as https://github.com/tgpethan/Llanfair , flitter or maybe mist.

Hey!

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll probably then need to look into ASL and LiveSplit One as you suggested.

Until I figure that out, I'll keep using the Llanfair and try to avoid double pressing. ^^

Thank you again!

Iirc livesplit one functions differently. You should check out the speedrun tool development discord server, maybe someone could help you out there if something like that would work.

Imo the only way to deal with double pressing with the available tools on linux is to set & remember a hotkey to unsplit the last split. And also make it a habit to check your splits from time to time. Livesplit one is great but at least I can only rarely use it cause a.) I can't capture browser b.) when I use a OBS browser dock I can't use a global hotkey when the game window is focused. So I'm still sticking with Llanfair atm for most games.

Here is also some alternative timers I've encountered (didn't try them yet) https://github.com/slashinfty/chronode -> command line based timer https://sr.ht/~raphi/molok/ -> QT based timer
