I have done a bit of research to try and fix this issue, even using chat GPT and I can't seem to get this working.
Issue
- When playing any game LiveSplit hot keys will not work.
- Using Crazy Taxi steam version as an example with a dual monitor setup, I have my hot key set to one of my bumper buttons. If I click the bumper button and I am not in game, live split works.
- If I am in game and I try to use the bumper button nothing happens.
- If I click off the game to select live split controls work fine again but game is either froze until I click on the window again (windowed mode) or minimizes screen and pauses (full screen mode)
Setting on live split to try and fix issue
- Global Hotkeys checked
- Double Tap Prevention checked
- Allow Gamepad as Hotkeys checked
- Deactivate For Other Programs currently unchecked but have tried both ways
- Simple Sum of Best Calculation checked
- Warn On Rest if Better Times checkd
Computer specs
- Ryzen 9 5900x 12 core
- 32 gigs of ram
- Nvidia RTX 3090
- Windows 11
Windows settings I have tried to change
- Game mode turned off
- Run LiveSplit as admin
- Run Steam as admin (since I can't run game specific as admin and was told this should fix the issue for all steam games)
I have also tried this with DoDonPachi to rule out it being game specific and the issue persists. Attempts are starting to become much more solid and I know I could get a run on the board but I can't seem to figure out how to get LiveSplit to work
Updated development. Seems to work if I do not set the hotkey to a button on my controller. Works fine with keyboard but makes it interesting to try and time. Any info with the gamepad being an issue?
you could use some program to bind one of your controller buttons to a keyboard key and then set that key to be the split key
