Hello everyone,
I have a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. With that, comes access to many old gameboy games. Are these ok to use for speedrunning purposes?
Another question is games that have the retro collections, the specific example is Gameboy / NES games on TMNT “The Cowabunga Collection”.
What’s the general concensus on using the switch to speed run retro games?
Thanks,
Danny
Hello Danny,
Technically the NSO release is the enabler for these GBA games to add the Switch as an additional console. Mods then can take a look if they want to add it to the main category or create a sub category for it. It seems that NSO has reduced lag (usually, but not always?) compared to Switch virtual console & GBA. Also NSO/Switch runs on 60Hz, while GBA ran opn 59.7Hz. So NSO is likely faster due to technical reasons and that needs to be looked into each game on their own. Because some aspects are game-dependent.
And for game-specific questions, you'll have to ask the community in their game forums / discord or however they communicate.
