Yesterday @Fioresa announced that he would be stepping back from speedrun.com for a while and I thought that Id make this thread about fioresa so people can find this information in the future.

For those who dont know, Fioresa was a speedrunner who got many wrs among many different games. He started speedrunning in late 2019 playing small games like lunar mission and obtaining many wrs. Soon, he got interested in other games and he kept farming wrs. He became the person with the highest known wr count (even though around mid 2020 it was found out that dlimes13 had a higher wr count but it was unknown to many and we dont know when he overtook fioresa).

He was the first person known for breaking the 1K wrs barrier and he shared his achievements, even when some people criticised him for it, inspiring others to follow his steps and showing what someone could do if they really wanted. By late 2020 and 2021 more people (like me) started doing what he had done and became wr farmers, most notably sheschardcore and otterstone gamer. This type of speedrunning started to become more popular with more people interested in it and more people started talking about it. Soon, we started making the lbs and even created the server for the farming community.

For the last months, fioresa has been losing ground to otter. Hes no longer the person with the most wrs and hes not doing as many runs as other runners. However, his impact on the community cant be overstated. He has been responsible for the rise and growth of a new community, which went from a few people talking in the bots channel in the MSD to a community with many different runners and a lot of knowledge of sr.c, one that he represents as one of the greatest farmers.

This is why I made this thread, now that hes stopping, people should know what he has done and this story should be kept as part of the history of our little hobby.
