Cracked version for speedrunning

Malaysia

Just a random thought that went into my head. What happens if someone is caught speedrunning using a cracked version of a game? Do they get banned? Do communities allow it?

By cracked, I mean games that are still available for people to buy, this doesn't include games that went offsale forever.

Depends on many things, but unless it's provably behaving different from a legit version as far as speedrunning goes I don't see why anyone should care.

While pirating a game is definitely illegal (in most cases) most people just don't care unless it is running differently from an authentic copy

yeah i see absolutely no problem as long as it plays like a bought copy

Then you would have to ban most retro console runners cause I doubt the majority actually has the cartridges of all the games they run :)

The rules only talk about promoting and distributing games on the site. Not banning its use. Also, its too hard to enforce since you cant know if someone is using them most of the time

I would tell them to buy the game and come back once they bought it. Until then I would reject runs from them.
