Hello! I am Jack, and I just decided to get into speedrunning. I haven't decided what game(s), but I have set up livesplit and OBS for recording. OBS seems to lag a few games that i've played, does anyone have any other good screen recorders? Thanks.

If you have an NVidia graphics card, you could always use NVidia Shadowplay. It has a lot less features than OBS and lacks those cool overlays, but for simple recording/streaming it should work seamlessly in the background.
