Hello everyone! I am new to this community and not 100% what to expect. All I know is that this is a place for speed-runners (which I am not one, trust me it takes me like over an hour to beat Super Mario Bros. on the NES) and that this community is usually warm and welcoming. So I decided to join, not sure if I'll ever try a run, no way I could compare to any of you. But I'll be more than happy to make some new friends and chat with some of you. Also as a side note, I occasionally work on Rom Hacks if anyone is interested.

Hi there and welcome! You don't need to be "good" to be a speedrunner. All you need is to run games. It doesn't matter how well you do compared to others. Many people love the friendly competition and try their best to get better but that's not a requirement to call yourself a speedrunner. It really doesn't matter how long it takes you to beat Super Mario Bros., running games is the only thing that matters. If you ever try running games I wish you the best of luck and if you have any question feel free to message me.

It's true, I'm not even a speedrunner right now lol. It's already hard to finish a game without dying.
