Is it just more people play normal mode? Or is normal mode actually faster and why? Im seriously considering a run, im probably around an 80% playthrough now of 100 and may just run any% after.

Because it hasn't been run in ages and I ran it as a joke.

So is easy actually any faster/easier or not? Because I'm not after a crazy run/route, I just want to do a SS playthrough and would like some clarification if possible. Thanks!

If one of the any% runners grinded out some easy% you'd see the times match up there is literally no difference from easy to normal except in easy it's hard to die. It as simply as that

enemy stats (including defense) is reduced in easy mode. enemies take about 20% more damage roughly, and if you die (game over) you get revived by Carbuncle.

Another thing to note is that you get more AP per level so there's more AP options in easy mode. Easy mode is kind of a joke though so no one really runs it because the game is already easy enough as it is.
