Speedrun Guide

This guide gives a basic route for speedrunning *Ferien auf dem Martinshof* on the Game Boy Advance. I have only completed one run of this game so I'm defintely not an expert on this run but I thought I'd still share my notes to make it easier for other runners to run this game.

# Introduction

The story of this game is pretty simple. Bibi and Tina find a stray dog and are allowed to keep it until his guardian shows up on the condition that they provide food for the dog. They put up posters searching for the dog's guardian and asking for summer jobs. After completing all 10 jobs the dog's guardian shows up but the dog is allowed to stay longer since the guardian needs to go away for medical reasons.

# Job Order

You will get jobs by talking to Miss Martin who relays phone calls to you and from the mailbox which contains letters with job offers. This route does all phone jobs first and then all mail jobs. If you like it is possible to do them in a different order by checking the mailbox early.

# Horse Care

At some point in the run you need to take care of the horses before you can start the next job. As far as I understand the mechanics it is random when this requirement occurs. This is why you should gather and prepare everything you need to take care of the horses at the beginning of the run. You will need everything twice since Bibi and Tina both have to provide for their own horses. If you need to do the horse care before Miss Martin wants 4 carrots you need to plant 4 new carrots for Miss Martin. If you bring her the carrots before you need to take care of the horses, plant 4 new carrots for the animals.

# Speedrun Route

### Preparations

With Bibi:

- pick up straw (near the apple trees)
- interact with an apple tree (otherwise you can't pick up the ladder)
- pick up bucket and duck food
- pick up fertiliser and carrot seeds
- pick up hay and oat
- pick up watering can
- pick up ladder
- refill watering can
- grow 4 carrots

With Tina:

- pick up everything you need for horse care (except watering can)

### Job 1: Escort Arabia

- You can skip one encounter with the fox with the right movement, check my run for reference.
- Otherwise: good luck...

### Job 2: Catch Bunnies

Bunny Locations:

- 2 right next to Miss Wiedehopf
- 2 on the horizontal path
- 3 in holes near cages
- 1 on grass between cages and path
- 2 in holes to the west
- 2 in south-west corner
- 1 east of greenhouse
- 2 on eastern grass
- 1 in holes near house
- 2 near garage

### Job 3: Find Eggs

Before:

- pick up laundry and bring it to Miss Martin
- pick up watering can with Tina

Egg Locations:

- big tire
- tree to the west
- grass north-east
- tree stump to the east
- flowers south-west
- tree near horses
- house south-west side
- haystack
- chicken coop
- logs

### Job 4: Escort Arabia (Again)

Before:

- refill water with Bibi
- I hope you got nerves of steel

___

### Job 5: Water Flowers

Before:

- gather berries and bring them to Miss Martin
- refill water with Tina

Flowers:

- with Bibi: 6 in front of house
- with Tina: 7 in the garden
- refill after 5 to avoid an unneccessary textbox

### Job 6: Herd Sheep

Before:

- check mailbox to get the job

Sheep:

- 12 sheep, just do it

### Job 7: Gather Acorns

Before:

- check mailbox
- get 4 carrots and bring them to Miss Martin
- optional: grow 4 new carrots for the horses (if horse care wasn't required yet)

With Bibi:

- north of house
- north-east of house at picnic bench
- south-east of house near campfire
- south-east of house near river

With TIna

- west of house near log stacks
- south-west of house
- south-east of house near edge
- south-east of house near river

Backup Locations:

- south-west of house through stones
- south-east of house over bridge

### Job 8: Herd Sheep (Again)

Before:

- check mailbox

Sheep Locations:

- north-west near bottles
- south-west near bridge
- south-west on jetty (plank needed)
- south-east close by
- south-east over bridge

___

### Job 9: Find Stuff

Before:

- get 10 apples and bring them to Miss Martin
- check mailbox

Locations:

- keys: on big door
- axe: north
- glasses: west
- phone: east
- wallet: mailbox 

___

### Job 10: Distribute Food

Before:

- check mailbox

With Bibi:

- pick up food
- north-east near fence
- east near field
- pick up food
- east over bridge
- south of house

With Tina:

- pick up food
-south-west through stones
- north-west of house
