Okay, so I am asking for advice because I discussed this with Tewi earlier in his stream and we both dont have an answer to this:
- Is there anything that influences dash boosts on tilted surfaces other than the timing?
I mean, yeah, the angle does seem to have an impact, but not consistently. I usually aim straight down on most of my surfaces but dont always get the same boost. Timing, of course, is crucial, but for me, more than for other runners, it seems to be a bit... off sometimes.
One thing that I experience a lot more than other runners is: I'm actually dashing THROUGH the platform Im standing on instead of getting boosted upwards. Most significant is that during the first boost in NG+ and during the new route right after picking up the dash powerup in NG. Those two platforms are identical in thickness and both times I manage to clip through the platform and it gets really annyoing.
Now, I play this game on relatively high FPS. I play on low res, low details and I thought that FPS might influence the way these boosts work, especially because I have gotten way less clips on high settings and lower FPS but then I also gotten way less boosts. I am not sure if this is just subjective so I'm asking if anyone else has experienced issues with getting consistent tilt boosts on flat, tilted platforms (curve boosts are usually fine for me).
I have same problem than you after getting the dash, i doesn't do the new road for that reason. I have no idea why i clip that much through that only platform. Maybee FPS are a clue, but i'm pretty sure other runner also had High FPS ..
I've found that allowing yourself to slide slightly before curveboosting a flat surface helps, especially on that painful dash powerup skip in Void. However I'm by no means consistent on that trick and I oftentimes don't get enough height. The clips stopped happening for the most part when I stopped pressing WASD movement keys.
With a little testing, Ultra seems to work well for me if I'm getting a stable fps. Once it starts getting choppy it's a little more difficult, but definitely allowing yourself to slide slightly seems to help. I tended to not get as much height with Low settings, clipping felt the same.
