I guess some of you might know it already but if you start shooting on the ground with Cherry Broling (the girl with a machinegun in place of the right leg) and jump when she lands on the ground you can accumulate speed the same way you do it with the propane tank.
Which is why Cherry Broling is one of my favorite bros. Also worth noting that she, Brocketeer, and certain bros with movement specials (Broden for instance) can fly over certain cutscene triggers if they jump from the right place.
