# The Regions

The regional variants of Alphabet Park Adventure include:

- USA
- **USA (Alt)**
- **France**
- **Italy**
- Spain
- Germany
- Netherlands
- *Portugal*
- *China*
- *Korea*

# Toy Shop First Ball Spawn

The main reason why regions are chosen over each other is because of the first ball spawn in the Toy Shop. **Regions in bold do NOT have the spawn**, while the others do, making the bolded regions faster to run the first level on. Interestingly, the unbolded versions allow you to go on top of the train, while the bolded ones have an invisible wall. However, the ball skip saves more time, so this does not matter too much.

The italicized regions are versions of the games that apparently exist, but have likely not been dumped, and thus these specific changes cannot be verified.

The Chinese version in particular has a different main menu, and an exclusive mini-game. Adding the Chinese region to the leaderboard would take additional steps because of this, and I have not bothered to because I cannot find it anywhere.

I am not even entirely sure if the Korean version exists.

If any of you have dumps of the italicized regional versions of this game, please let me know, and I will add support for them to the leaderboard.

# Monsterville Dialogue Speed

This difference is a little more nuanced, and lesser known. During the initial dialogue explaining what to do during the letter mini-game, the first two dialogue clips can be skipped with Exit Skipping. The third one however, cannot be skipped. (If you try to skip it, you will still need to wait as long as you would normally.) This piece of dialogue's length varies from region to region, but we will mainly be focusing on the important ones (USA (Alt), France, and Italy). This dialogue is the fastest on France, followed by USA (Alt), and then Italy. However...

The ending of the mini-game has dialogue differences too. Specifically, the USA (Alt) and Italy versions have the dialogue with the scary sounding voice come in much earlier than the France version, making USA (Alt) and Italy tied for the fastest in this specific case, followed by France last.

Finally, the length of dialogue for each letter whenever one is selected is different between all 3 of these versions. USA (Alt) appears to have shorter letter dialogue on average, while Italy and France are somewhat similar to each other. Thus...

# As of right now, USA (Alt) is the optimal region to run on

Until more differences are discovered that impact the speedrun for this game, USA (Alt) is the technically optimal choice for the fastest time possible, with not only the ball skip in the Toy Shop, but also the fastest Monsterville mini-games. Of course, this could change, so please let me know if you find anything!
