Essential Items

Some pieces of equipment are considered essentials to go out exploring. If you are missing any and assuming you lack the resources to craft them, the friendly dumpster at the garage will give you up to:

• 4 Wheels,
• 4 Doors,
• 4 Panels,
• 1 Motor,
• 1 Headlight,
• 1 Scrapper,
• 1 Fuel Can (10L)

Item Tier Upgrade

At first these items will be of the lowest tier but they will improve as you progress through the game. The quality of the following items will increase as soon as you meet these conditions:

• [Crude Panel / Door] -> [Steel Panel / Door] : Unlock the relevant [Steel Panel / Door] recipe and gain access to the [Midzone] area by completing the story mission
• [Spare Tire] -> [Summer Tire] : Unlock the [Summer Tire] recipe and gain access to the [Midzone] area by completing the story mission
• [Crude Headlight] -> [Headlight] : Unlock the [Headlight] recipe and gain access to the [Midzone] area by completing the story mission
• [Steel Panel / Door] -> [Armored Panel / Door] : Unlock the relevant [Armored Panel / Door] recipe and gain access to the [Deepzone] area by completing the story mission
• [Carbureted Engine] -> [Turbolight Engine] : Unlock the [Turbolight Engine] recipe and complete the story

Item Dispensing Conditions

In order for the friendly dumpster to dispense these items you need to meet the following criterias:

• You have less than the maximum quantity of said item. This includes items of other tiers. Items with less than 60% durability do not count toward this limit. Items with an ❤ icon counts toward the limit regardless of their current dirabillity
• You lack the resources to craft said item; its crafting recipe is highlighted red. (1) (2)

(1) Except for Spare and Summer Tires. (2) For some reason, steel panels and steel doors seem to ignore this condition.

The game checks every container and item on the ground in the HUB area to count items/resources. In order to bypass this you can:

• Scrap or recycle existing items/resources,
• Drop resources on the ground,
• Hide items/resources inside the "Out" pneumatic tube. This allows you to go over the item limit, as long as all extra items fit inside the pneumatic tube. I'm not sure if this is intented or not, though.

Common Use Cases

Items obtained in this manner have a ❤ icon next to them. Their durability is randomized between 20% and 100%, except headlights always having full durability. Scrapping or recycling such item yields no resources. They lose this icon after bringing them with you on a run.

You can recycle your engine every time you return to the garage. This will give you a good amount of scrap, rubber, copper wires and gas cylinders based on the remaining durability. Leaving all gas cylinders on the ground will garantee a new engine drop from the dumpster.

Unlocking steel recipes takes minimal time and will ensure you get at least some protection during the mission "The Vision" which is probably the hardest mission in the game.

This guide is based on the current version (v.1.9.1: "Endless Expeditions"). This feature may differ in older versions
