OBƧIDIAN PUZZLE GUIDE

1. THE FOREST

Proceed through the forest until you get to the tent. Uncover right side sleeping bag and power on the PDA. Press MAIL button and open the three videos (the ones shown next to an icon of an eye in a circle). Navigate to the Projects tab, open SPEECH PREP, DREAM – Spider, and DREAM – red tape. Power off the PDA, leave the tent, and turn left towards Obƨidian. Move forward and wait until the cutscene begins.

2. THE BUREAU

TRADESMAN: Navigate to the Records Department and retrieve the “Tradesman” document – double down arrows x 11, up arrow x 1.

CUBE MAZE: Navigate to the Cube Maze using the Light Carousel (1x Right). Take the color cards, turn right and move forward, then forward two more times, then turn left and enter the room on the corner (1B=1Y1R door, should take 1x blue card and give 1x yellow and 1x red). When you enter the corner room turn left and enter the 1Y1R=2B door. Turn around and go back through the door (1B=1Y1R) into the corner room, then turn around again and go back through the 1Y1R=2B door, then turn around and again go back through the 1B=1Y1R door into the corner room. Now turn left to face the Stamp desk in the far corner. Go through the door (1B1Y=1BLACK), then turn around and go through the door back into the corner (1B=1Y1R). Turn right and go through the door (1Y1R=2B), then turn around and go back into the corner (1B=1Y1R). Turn left and go through the door (1B1Y=1BLACK). Turn around again and go through the door into the corner room (1B=1Y1R). Turn right and go through 1Y1R=2B, turn around again and go back into the corner room (1B=1Y1R). Turn left and go through 1B1Y=1BLACK. Continue through the 3 BLACK door and talk to the bureaucrat at the Stamp desk. If the corner you enter is room 1, the second room you enter (1Y1R=2B) is room 2, the third room you enter (1B1Y=1BLACK) is room 3, and the Stamp room is room 4, you can write the sequence as follows: 1-2-1-2-1-3-1-2-1-3-1-2-1-3-4

CLOCK PUZZLE: Navigate to Immediate Action using the Light Carousel (2x Right). At the Clock Puzzle, adjust the moon dial clockwise x 4 and the Earth dial counterclockwise x 3 and pull the lever. Talk to the bureaucrat at the desk.

BUREAU CHIEF’S OFFICE: Turn the Light Carousel right until the light turns off. After the cutscene move to the sun door using the Light Carousel (3x Left). Punch the numbers 9-3-4. Move the red line in the left-most rectangle to the bottom. Move the red lines in the other two rectangles to be at the one quarter mark (should cover the middle of the cube maze image and the middle of the bureau chief’s office image). Press the red button.

Pull the rock down towards you. Go back through the door and step away from it, then turn left and move forward into the corner. Turn left and move towards the far ladder. Turn right and climb up the ladder. Continue to move ‘forwards’ until you’re in the middle of the main room, then turn left and proceed towards the bureau chief’s office.

3. THE SPIDER

AIR ROOM: Move forwards (counterclockwise around the Spider) twice, then turn left and proceed up the lone ladder into the Air Room. First, look down and enter the ball. Push all of the balls in the outer ring (dark green, NOT light green) to the left and bottom walls to start. Push the top left ball right x4 into the top right corner, then push it down x3 to the 4th row, then push it left x2 as far as it will go. Push the first column up x1and the bottom row left x1. Repeat as before, push the top left ball right x 4, down x 3, left x1. Push the bottom row left x1. Push the top leftmost ball right x1, move the first column up x1, move the top leftmost ball right x1, move the first column up x1, move the top leftmost ball right x1. Move the bottom row balls up against the left wall. Push the first column ball in the middle row right x2, move the first column up x1, push the first column ball in the middle row right x1. The light green inner square should be full, except for the one space in the center.

Exit the ball and shoot the stupid idiot gun until you trap the tornado. Have fun with that. Exit through the door to complete the Air Room.

OIL ROOM: Navigate forward until you get to the front of the Spider. Turn right and move forward twice (counterclockwise around the Spider) until you're at the back end of the Spider, then turn around and go up the nearest ladder into the Oil Room. Go all the way forward and synchronize the waves. The waves will be in a random position. The fastest way to solve the puzzle is to start with the back row and move in the direction of the waves. Starting with the backmost and leftmost wave section, allow that wave to mostly (~ ¾) wash onto the next wave section so that only about ¼ of a wave remains on this first section. Line up the other two wave sections in this back row, then create the bulk of the wave in the middle row for each section. For the last row, try to do the same as the first. Allow the bulk of a wave to wash over the middle row, then build that in the front row. Try to create a situation where there are only two waves going at any time – both split over the two row borders within the square.

When you’ve solved the puzzle, leave the area and go back to the Sand Castle near the Oil Room entrance. Input 038-1 into the device and push the button. Then, input 133-5 and push the button again. Exit through the door to complete the Oil Room.

FIRE ROOM: Navigate forward until you get to the front of the Spider. Turn left, then move forward (clockwise around the Spider) once, turn right, and go up the right side ladder to enter the Fire Room. This puzzle is random, and timing-based. Solve them in the order that the lightning beam hits them when you click on the Sun, trying to time the limbs of the tree touching their respective lightning rods so that it coincides with the timing of the lightning. When you’ve solved the puzzle turn around and exit through the door to finish the Fire Room.

METAL ROOM: Navigate forward until you get to the front of the Spider. Turn left and move forward (clockwise around the Spider) once, turn right, and go up the left side ladder to enter the Metal Room. After the cutscene, move forward, turn right and go through the door to enter the lab. Place the first red vial into the left side chamber and the third yellow vial into the right side chamber, then press the button to mix them. Take the orange drink out of the lab, turn right, and place it in the box. Push the power button. After the cutscene, leave the Metal Room.

CONSTELLATION ROOM: Connect the dots to form the image of a spider. The panel beneath the puzzle shows the shape of the finished spider for reference. Exit the Constellation Room and move towards the Spider to enter Dreamworld.

4. DREAMWORLD

ENGINE ROOM: Move up the hill, push the button, and turn around to enter the ship. Go through the lever door to enter the Engine Room. Arrange the images of the dove so that they’re in order. Going in numerical order: 5 to 2 // 8 to 3 // 5 to 4 // 7 to 5 // 8 to 7 // 11 to 9.

CHURCH OF THE MACHINE: Turn around and exit the engine room. Sit down at the flight console and turn the key. Flip switches, D1, B2, and A3 in order when prompted. Select the location above the hand on the map. Disembark, proceed down the stairs into the Church, and enter the programmable Spider. Program the Spider with the following steps, where F is Forward, U is U-turn, L is Left, and R is Right: L-F-U-F-R-F-L-L-L-R

Grab the Override Chip and return to the ship.

THE STATUE: Sit down at the flight console and turn the key. Flip switches, D1, B2, and A3 in order when prompted. Select the location to the right of the hand on the map. Disembark and move through the Statue Museum into the Paint Studio. Examine the print machine. Click the left side yellow button to arrange the pieces in the shape of a square. The goal is to rearrange the pieces so that half of the pieces are being used to cover up the other half of the pieces, resulting in a blank white canvas. Starting with the bottom left long vertical piece, drag that down into the bottom left corner. Move the bottom horizontal long piece next to the vertical piece you just placed, against the bottom edge. Drag the top right long horizontal piece into the bottom left corner to cover part of both the other long pieces. Drag the top left triangle pieces into the exposed square at the bottom. Drag the right side irregular piece so that the thin vertical portion is lined up with the long vertical portion still exposed against the bottom edge. Drag the center triangle pieces into the exposed square to finish the puzzle, then press the green button.

After the cutscene, press the lever on the left side of the new painting. Exit the Statue Museum and return to the ship.

FRAME IN THE SKY: Place the Override Chip into the receiving port behind the pilot’s seat, on the left side of the ship. Sit down at the flight console and push the red lever to transfer controls to machine pilot. Flip switch D1. Ignore the ship’s voice commands, open the black panel next to A3 and flip switch D2. Open the white panel next to B3 and flip switch D3. Open the black panel next to A3 again and flip switch C3. Open the white panel next to B3 and flip switch C4. Open the black panel next to A3 and flip switch B4 to achieve checkmate.

5. OBƧIDIAN:

PRISON BRIDGE: Turn right and move forward until you reach the Prison Bridge.**** Press the buttons on the bridge console in the following order: Up x3, Left x7, Right x4, Up x1, Right x3, Down x2. Move towards Max. Look down and drag the orange drink away from the tower so that it falls. Turn around and move forward towards the other end of the tunnel, where CERES is.

KILLSWITCH: Examine the console behind CERES. This puzzle is random. All 16 tabs will look the same, but 8 of them will be ‘covered’ and 8 of them will be ‘uncovered’. When you press an uncovered tab, the tab will turn green. The goal is to press all 8 uncovered tabs without pressing a covered tab. If you press a covered tab, each of the covered tabs will move to an uncovered tab to cover them (and the previously covered tabs, including the one you pressed, will become uncovered). The fastest way to solve this puzzle is to carefully observe the tabs as they are in motion and memorize their locations. Taking a photo or video of the tabs in motion and using it for reference can also be effective. When you press all 8 uncovered tabs the Killswitch becomes operational. Throw the Killswitch down to initiate the endgame. After the cutscene, throw the Killswitch back up to crash CERES and destroy Obƨidian. Alternatively, if you wait five seconds without throwing the Killswitch, CERES will have finished preparing the molecular assembler for its final project and the Earth will be destroyed.
