# Introduction

Maze Men are the "ghosts" that spawns randomly during the game that allows you to retrieve the 9 scripts pages to unlock the eye ball in the room. This is the only "random" part that can heavily impact runs as it is usually the last thing you need to do, and it's just: waiting...

# How they spawn

Maze Men will have a random delay before spawning. The first maze man spawns at a specific time (+/- some random delay) but after that first one, the next delay will be initialized at the moment you complete its interaction (i.e. correctly answering his question), and the delay formula goes like this:

- 30 seconds +/- 15 seconds - If your completion is 79.999% or above
- 2700 seconds +/- 15 seconds - If your completion is 0%
- Between 30 seconds and 2700 seconds +/- 15 seconds if your completion is between 0% and 79.999%

*Note: 2700 seconds is 45 minutes*

*Note 2: The curve is linear. Meaning that if you have 40% completion, you will half the time it will take to spawn and so on.*

If you have to remember one thing, this is it: **the faster you reach a high percent, the lower the delay will be.**

## Misc

There are a lot of different conditions for the Maze Man to spawn, that I couldn't really explain simply, but here are some of them:

- Some rooms have blockers, that prevents it to spawn at specific location when the random position is chosen, from what I've saw, the upstair room looks pretty free of these blockers
- The angle that Lorelei has at the moment of the decided spawn can prevent the Maze Man to be spawned. From what I've saw, you just need to not look at a door entrance, as they usually spawn there
