This wasp strategy AND the cyclops longer cycle can only be achieved by breaking the game a little. The creatures have "capture" settings. If you got caught once the wasp is getting slower and the cyclops cycle is a bit more forgiving and letting you run more distance (see Mint_1's speedrun). These captures are being saved until you fully exit out o the game. Meaning - you should have two saves - wasp and cyclops - and get youself caught 4x wasp and 3-4x cyclops before exiting into the menu and starting a new run.

Cyclops should now take significantly longer before getting activated, and wasp should be way slower, which allows for this certain wasp strat.
