Special Moves

You can use your weapons special attack by pressing triangle and circle at the same time. But if you power bar is full (red or blue, doesn't matter) it is also activated by the same button input. You can change it in the options menu before you start the game so the power bar is only used when your press R3 so you don't have to play around the power bar at all.

  • Blade #1: it's okay-ish for early game to kill some low level enemies.
  • Blade #2: special move is great! It hits easily, does decend damage and because of it's high range you can play it always safe or just safe time by not moving towards your enemy.
  • Blade #3: special move is great to destroy objects (see next chapter).
  • Blade #4: no use found for a fight, but you can glide with it midair to avoid spiders or hit the jumps to the second shadow fight
  • Blade #5: auto aim and high range, great against the boss with her 4 clones, just spam this move to kill the clones since they all only have 1 HP. Does very low damage tho.
  • Blade #6: low damage, low area of effect, no idea what it is good for.
  • Blade #7: very high damage and also damages enemies with armor like the golden bosses. slow recovery animation tho.
  • Golden blade: decend damage, pretty high range, mostly used to kill small groups of enemies, not great single target (Blade #7 is your go-to for that)

Power bar

Red

Fills up when you take damage or use a continue. Some food items damage yourself so you get a bit of a red bard. Some items like the canisters you get from the wheel monsters at the end of the game damage you a lot but instantly fill your red bard.

When activated you cannot be staggered anymore and you deal more damage. Can be used against the golden bosses to just spam your special attack with blade #1 or #7 (7 is much better but not available early game). Also very usefull to kill the shadow boss with blade #7 since he is a real pain and there is no consistent strategy against him so far.

Blue

Uses a super move based on your currently equipped weapon. A lot of them suck or do not have any good utility (as far as i know).

  • Blade #1: very basic 3 hit combo, hard to aim, damage is okay-ish (would not recommend using it)
  • Blade #2: throws the boomerang, can you be useful to knock enemies down in a hallway to then jump over them.
  • Blade #3: one big hit, very slow, damage seems bad
  • Blade #4: very slow, can kill enemies in a hallway infront of you if you have struggle getting passed them (for example spiders)
  • Blade #5: very powerful against big targets, does a huge junk of damage in a cone infront of you (but be careful to aim it well and that the enemy isn't in an invincibilty frame or else you will be just sad)
  • Blade #6: not sure what to think about it, seems to have some utility since you can move with it which makes it easier to hit, but the damage does not seem work it
  • Blade #7: very slow, does decent damage and moves you forward (works well against little spiders).
  • Golden blade: huge range, it's slow but worth using in situtations where you have to fight multiple enemies, should absolutely spam this in the elevator section at the end of the game. Not good for single target.

Breaking objects

Some objects need to be broken to progress the game. For example in stage 2 there are wheelbarrels in the way. The fastest way I found to break them is to use blade #3 and spam the special move. Since the objects do not have any invincibility frames, the special move of blade #3 hit it multiple times.

Food

Food is mostly a random drop, some of it does not seem worth using in the first place, but if you use food that damages you, you can fill your red power bar more.

Food list

ToDo: list food items and write down there effects and how to utilize them

Buffs

Buffs will be instantly removed if you eat another food!

Some buffs like the red power bar or drinking the wine food item make your character fearless. This makes you immune to any kind of stagger and you can just blast through with your attacks. BUT you do not get any invinciblity frames, so if an enemy uses a continues attack which would otherwise knock you down, you might just die in an instant.

Food buffs can be terrible and actually hurt you. Damaging you over time, weaken your body, stop you from attacking. Be careful what you eat and in what order (to not override your positive buffs).
