Allies Skip

To perform this skip, once you get into the pier for the first time take the normal route but don't talk to Black Cat. The video below demonstrates this while comparing to the old Nightskip 2 method. This skip is roughly 40 seconds faster then the Nightskip 2 (the video says 30, but the nightskip 2 TAS has a 10 second advantage from not needing to talk to Black Cat and I didn't realise this when making the video). This skip doesn't work with the second time talking to Black Cat because Venom spawns in once you have completed either the "Help Nightcrawler" or "Help Green Goblin" task.

Also in the video one of the rooms of enemies are defeated already and this is not a skip, i fought them before the video then saved because I didn't want to TAS them because it's boring and even if i did the time difference would be the exact same since they would beat the enemies and leave the room in the same amount of time each. And there is a splice at 0:27 (in the Allies Skip TAS) mostly to make the TASes fair.

### This isn't really a guide in general, I just made it to demonstrate these strats, but if you're an average player in this game, you won't have much difficulty doing these infinite combo.

## the upgrades used for this strat are: Launching Uppercut, JackHammer Stomp and Amazing Speed Boost.... they are all upgrades for both Suits and without them the runner will not be able to do this infinite combo

### This is the first way to do infinite combo that I knew... if I'm not mistaken I saw TMP doing this but I'm not sure because I didn't find anything about him doing this strat...

### In general, the problem with this strategy is that it is very inconsistent and on top of that it also seems to take longer to defeat Venom using this strategy compared to the current venom strategy that I used in my speedrun.

## The upgrades used in this strat are the same as the others except for the ultimate boost, which makes Spider-Man attack much faster, which makes it possible for the runner to do this infinite combo.

### In general, this strat is quite consistent and probably does more damage than other strats, which means that Spiderman defeats Venom faster, but on the other hand, it is much more difficult to do.

Downtown Shortcut (Obsolete)

This skip has been obsoleted by a new, faster skip which can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/wosds/guide/ercjy (if the link is ever broken in the future, look in the "Guides" section and you should be able to find the one called "Three New Timesaves"

The tutorial on how to do the trick is in the video down below. This skip saves probably about a minute in any% NG+ but in any% its more complicated because you need to fight enemies to buy new combos for faster fights. This skip skips a fight (and 4 movement based rooms) between some enemies and you lose some money. However you can backtrack into a room that you already fought and enemies will spawn a lot faster so if you need the money you will lose it's probably faster to still do the skip but earlier on in the run go back into a room to collect some quick money orbs. This trick is at the moment the hardest trick in the game so it may take you a while to get it for your first time.

Drain Fight Skip

The tutorial for the skip is in the video below. This skip saves usually around 20-30 seconds in NG+ (depending on enemy spawns) but in any% it depends on your money collecting route if it saves time or not.

Early Damage Upgrade

The video below shows three methods of an essential sequence break for the Any% category (If you run Any% it is highly recommended you do any variant of this trick in your run). Also thanks to cakemaphoniege for discovering both the TAS and Normal Strategies.

TAS Strat: Difficult and inconsistent, not recommended for runs.

Normal Strat: Difficult at first, once practiced enough it becomes easier and consistent. Recommended to be used in runs.

Easy Strat: Very easy and consistent but with a catch, it requires slowing down around 15-20 seconds to buy "Air Dodge". Only recommended if struggling with the Normal Strat.

New Symbiote Portal Breaking Route (Any% NG+)

You should only do the new route in NG+ since it is better to do the old route on any% because at 0:50 in the video below you will see a wall on the left and somewhere in that wall is a damage upgrade which makes fighting hive enemies a lot faster and easier.

(These two playthroughs of the game are tasses {Tool assisted speedruns} I played the game frame by frame and if I mess up ever I could rewind it. Neither of these tasses are perfect but they are good enough to show the new route is faster

Also tasses are not allowed to be submitted as rta runs but if your making a guide/forum post it's fine (you probably shouldn't claim your tas as an rta run in a guide/forum post though)

Nightcrawler Skip (Nightskip) Technique

This applies to both any% and NG+, but once you defeat the yellow symbiote boss in Downtown, you'll have a "talk" with Black Cat. If you choose to help Nightcrawler (which is recommended as you'll see soon), make your way to the Residential entrance of the Sewers where he waits at the save room. Normally you'll have to help him rescue civilians from various places. However, if you enter the room enough where the symbiote forms onto the door, but the door has not closed yet (thus not locking it), and you dodge your way out of the room, the game registers this as you having completed the side task (make sure to leave though in Residential as soon as his posture changes/is about to talk). This saves a significant amount of time for runs and would have you approach the hive sooner.
Note: this technique does not work for the symbiote portal room located in Pier.

Nightskip 2 (Obsolete)

Performing this skip in your any% run will make it so you don't get all the money you would normally get from fighting Green Goblin and you don't get anyone but Black Cat to help you when in boss battles. If you do this skip so in some cases depending on your route and ability to fight bosses fast it can be faster and easier to fight Green Goblin instead of skip Night Crawler. It is faster in NG+ though.

This trick saves time in every category but some categories it may save more than others. To perform this trick once you speak to Black Cat start backtracking down to the sewers and stand right outside of the door that leads you to help nightcrawler and walk through the door and then somewhere near the edge of the platform your going to want to turn around (The tas in the video turns around and rolls that is not needed you can do the same thing but just with walking, it is faster to roll though). You will know you have done the trick correctly if you saw the door get the symbiote goo stuff on it right before you left and if you missed that you can tell by on the lower screen if not already select the "Mini Map" button and if you see Nightcrawlers head you failed the trick and you have to retry it but if you see a red "!" you did the trick correctly. Now that you have done that start heading back to the Pier and progress on with the game since Green Goblin wont be there.

Overall Route for Runs

Notable tactics during runs: With your red suit, zip your way through with either a quick B+A web zip or a diagonal web zip. This is what you'll be using for the majority of the run for movement. Only save when you're running low on health. Throwing items at enemies can help, especially in Residential where they can one-shot most enemies. Utilize combat to the best of your abilities (especially for bosses, get them into a loop if possible via corner beatdowns or keeping them airborne as long as possible). And when doing boss battles, its preferred that you pick Goblin (if you've helped him at least once), as he's the fastest attacker. Try not to go for Black Cat (unless absolutely necessary), you want every bit of damage possible. 

Residential: Go for the first Early Damage Upgrade. When the first boss is defeated, hope you get the shorter dialogue of "I feel stronger!", saving a couple of seconds. And when picking up the big object in the boss room, hope you get the slide movement to just fall through and not have to throw it.

Sewers Pt. 1: When in the power room and when the barrier opens, go for a quick B+A web zip across for faster movement. Repeat this for shutting off the water. Refer to Drain Fight Skip.

Pier: "Talk" with Black Cat and decide who you're going to help. For those who aren't confident to go without the EXP earned in this sidequest, I'd recommend helping Green Goblin but if you're quick with Roll Dodges, then try Nightskip 2. Otherwise, refer to Allies Skip. After defeating the blue symbiote boss, make your way to the room previously protected by the orange wall and beat enemies there. This makes things easier for when you later have to destroy the symbiote portals.

Downtown Pt. 1: Get rid of the dumpster for your exit to the Sewers later. Then its business as usual with enemies and bosses. Once done, make your way back down to Sewers.

Sewers Pt. 2: Your short trip here is basically going down from the station and defeating the boss. Then going back up to Residential for Downtown again.

Downtown Pt. 2: Business as usual. Although the boss here is quite a tricky one, being very quick. Once meeting with Black Cat again, it's highly recommended that you go and "help" Nightcrawler (read the Nightskip guide for more info). After helping either NC or Goblin, make your way to the hive.

Hive Pt. 1: Another short trip. Surprise Venom with a web attack as he would have done to you, and defeat him. Exit the Hive to dispose of the symbiote portals.

Symbiote Portals: The ideal route to take based on the TAS is this: Residential, Downtown, Pier, and Sewers. Then return to the hive for the last time.

Hive Pt. 2: Nothing new here up until the final boss, the Symbiote Leader (or Mega Venom, as known by his files apparently). This is where you'll want to be efficient with your combat. His first stage is pretty standard, indicated by his first bar. Second stage has him be very defensive, and afaik, there's no known way to manipulate his ai into rejecting those tactics. So you can only land hits when he attacks. Using Nightcrawler might help in order to land more hits in the air. Once he's down a certain amount where you can get him airborne, keep him there as much as possible. Once down, exit the hive and its game over.

Three New Timesaves

The following video best demonstrates these three, but to sum it up:
1.) An adjusted route to take is to go for the early damage upgrade after beating the Yellow boss and then perform Nightskip. This will make the Venom fight quicker to finish and saves around 11 seconds.
2.) After defeating the Red boss in the Sewers, go to the Downtown entrance at the top of the map, enter the door to the left and use Nightcrawler's teleport ability to reach the other Downtown entrance quicker. Saves about 12 seconds.
3.) Using a combination of the Black Suit's slam attack and air dodge (alongside direction input to the left) at the highest part of the Pier map, you can "fly" towards the top entrance to Downtown (normally inaccessible after beating the Pier/Blue boss) and make your way to the Flying boss, skipping both preceding fights and having to do Downtown shortcut (one of the most difficult tricks for this game). Adjusted routes need to be taken to avoid triggering the two skipped fight sequences in Downtown, tallying to 24 seconds shaved for Any% and 17 seconds for NG+ (when compared to previous runs that used Downtown shortcut).

In total, Any% can be cut down to 47 seconds and NG+ in 29 seconds.
