As the title says, we now have a channel on which we will hold gungeon speedrun races, with one of them upcoming in three days on the 20th january, we hope that we can get this to be bigger than just a couple friendly races, but not promises yet. https://www.twitch.tv/etgracing
Personally, as from a view of a runner and not moderator, I think this would be cool but at the same time would take away a lot of the satisfaction from getting a good run doing it like this, it would also make competing in this kind of an enviroment rather annoying because from what I understand, you would have to reload the save file each time after you do the "big run" in which you do get the combo, that in of itself isn't that much of an annoyance since you wouldn't need to be reloading it that much because you won't get the combo in every run anyway, however, what I do personally find bad about this kind of a competitive idea is how annoying competing it would be in it, the way as the leaderboards are right now depends on how good the player is combined with a lot of luck factor, a leaderboard like that would be less so much about skill but even more about RNG, you'd think that getting a significantly higher chance of makeshiftape in a run would make it less rng reliable (or for that matter push for lower times, which if you consider that, yes it's true) but all it would do is make for a very annoying thing to compete in, it would now not just depend on a person getting the right guns/items and generations, but it would fully move over to just grinding out the generations, say someone gets an 8 minute run but didn't get the right generations, they now need to not try to get better but just grind until they find the right generation to get an unbeatable run, or get very close to such a run. I personally find the competition of full RNG combined with a very hefty amount of skill involved much more interesting and more "skill" dependant for that matter, I would rather run a completely rng scenario with guns and generations, than to have to grind one exact thing to beat the record. What I love about the current way it is is that you can take the record by just having very well mapped runs with good generations or you could just get very good guns and items that would save a lot of time, it adds a variety kind of competition, while competition with the manipulated file would be compeltely dependant on one person getting a good generation or not, there is obviously still mapping skill and not fucking it up but it's not to such degree as the leaderboards right now.
From a viewpoint of a moderator of this leaderboard itself: I think this could make for an interesting extra category similar to "boss rush" but it would have just the normal categories inside of it as subcategories (1char any%, 1 char hell% etc and have their turbo counterparts), I'm interested in seeing people go for ultra low times. However I do think it would yet again clutter the leaderboard way too much (similar to what happened with turbo mode coming out) considering that we would either have to do what I suggested, which in of itself isn't that clean, or have to add it alongside normal or turbo which would make it absolutely atrocious looking. Something like a google docs leaderboard could probably be done for this but then it would remove the interest in competing in it and it wouldn't have as much of an exposure for others to try it.
As a moderator I will say that I'm indiffirent on this but if I had to choose a yes or no, I would say no to this.
The Pause Glitch category has been completely deleted from our boss rush leaderboards as it was very confusing to the newer players and in general, was a very tedious category to run and for others to watch because of how the glitch is done.
By the request of runners, a combination of Turbo Mode and Blessing Mode has been added as a category on the leaderboard; Because running normal blessed at this time is quite painful since normal mode is so much slower than turbo mode and less enjoyable to play.
We've changed the leaderboard categories a bit, there isn't a "Turbo Mode" and "Turbo Mode Hell" category anymore, they were moved under the normal 1 Character, 4 Character and 6 Character categories so it makes more sense.
Special Thanks to Spleen for helping moving the runs to the new categories
The save file download is in the resources tab on this leaderboard: https://www.speedrun.com/Enter_the_Gungeon/resources
Sorry, but we're currently not looking into getting more game moderators.
The resources tab in the leaderboard now has a fully updated 100 save file that has everything from Advanced Gungeons & Draguns unlocked.
UPDATE: We are going to update the save file in the resources tab to have a 100% AG&D save file shortly after such a file with every item picked up appears.
Because Advanced Gungeons and Draguns brought some new in-game options we would like to say that both "faster movement out of combat" and "ag&d loot profile" are allowed on our leaderboards and are optional for the player to choose. This post was done because a lot of people were asking whether fmoc(faster movement out of combat) is allowed or not
Anyone can now submit runs recorded on the Switch as the Switch now has the same update version as the other platforms!
We currently do not allow switch runs on our leaderboard because of the switch version being considerably more different from what gungeon is like on consoles/PC right now. The switch will be added as an option of platform when Advanced Gungeons & Draguns (the next update) releases on all platforms, therefore making it fair. Sorry for the inconvenience.
On https://www.speedrun.com/Enter_the_Gungeon/full_game there is a button "Submit Run".
You can use stuff like obs to record the runs or just stream them and make highlights of VODs. The recording is REQUIRED, just screenshots of the win screen won't be accepted. We also have a discord server where I can respond quicker if you need help https://discord.gg/U4zkKgd
Recently a bug was discovered and later elaborated on in our discord, we gave it the name of a Pause Glitch which explains itself with the name. It's a bug that abuses a certain way of pausing where you pause and then unpause+pause very quickly again which freezes down the IGT timer but the game still runs even though you are in the pause screen, this can be used for a lot of different parts of the game to save numerous amounts of time and one of the most important reasons being able to teleport using this glitch: if you dodge roll and then pause, unpause and pause(two times) you will teleport, the range of the "teleport" depends on how long you wait in the pause screen. As such, we are banning this glitch from all of the categories except boss rush, which will have a separate category for it. If anyone is curious, here is a general showcase of the glitch: .
Also if you are wondering what's up with all the silly names for tricks and stuff, we have a tendency to give custom names for the tricks we use :D
Around a month ago or so, I started writing down things for a whole new guide on this leaderboard because around that time teddy and tekkera released their guides so I felt like I had to join the party, I asked some of the members of our discord such as EtG_OJSN, Speedkris, Spleen, Tyredstar, Teddy and Phantom Saber for any things in particular they could think of to add into a guide. And now one month forward I actually came around making the guide and it's fully out now! As far as I'm concerned I think it has a lot of the general stuff you would want to know and a bit extras. Here is the actual guide -> https://www.speedrun.com/Enter_the_Gungeon/guide/r6is1 It actually turned out to be very huge and much bigger than I expected, but that's good.
