No SSU is the best category to start out with. If you would want to learn that category, English Ben's guide on how to run that category is recommended. He even made a video about how to convert your version to Japanese. Like Kaon said, joining the GTA Speedrunning Discord is the perfect place for you to ask questions. I wish you the best of luck with your runs!
Yeah I run the game on a PS2 slim. You have to set it to fast disc speed every single time. But it isn't such a big deal for me because I don't reset the PS2 when running the game. I like the IGT idea, but it shouldn't be too much of a hassle for runners, it should just be pick-up and play. Otherwise it indeed would be a bit discouraging.
Yeah I agree. Thanks for the response! I will definitely show the difficulty in every run.
Hello everyone! I'm quite new to speedrunning this game, and I've been enjoying it a lot so far! I've done 2 runs so far and they've been verified. But I was wondering if I should show the difficulty I'm on at the menu in the video right before the run, to show it as proof that I'm actually doing a run in the right category. I know that it's easy to see the difference between Easy and Normal, but not with Normal and Hard. Thanks in advance!
I know that Cj4life runs Any% No SSU with a controller and he got a 56:32 PB. I'm not too sure what the best time with a controller would be, but I think you can get sub 55 with no problems.
Thank you very much for these tips ! I felt like that really was the best option to practice.
So I'm still fairly new to speedrunning GTA: Vice City. I've been practicing and really enjoying the category any% No SSU. The 2 videos of English Ben have helped me a ton for learning things. So I was wondering what really is the best way to learn to do the complete run. Is it just understanding what to do and try do to runs from the start, or maybe using save states to practice every single bit ? So far I've been trying to do full runs from the start, but I've never even done anything past death row.
