I wanted to do at least one more speedrun of a game. It might be better if I explained how to get better by written word than video. When the content of writing is well enough it makes up for lack of animation. Though this is myself today 7/5/20. This is what my labtop shows though I might want to consider a capture card.

Various video games online as well as my own projects. Too many to say.

I have a small laptop and a camcorder to record my run. Will you accept the video if it's good enough quality? I can try samples of each. Since I'm on the go I haven't had a chance to get a new computer yet. Whatever comes first.

Do you have samples already or is everyone here in the modern age of twitch?

Chess. The irony is it is played offline and online. You might want to ask a game that can only exclusively be played online unless you did already.

Resistance: Avalon is one I've mostly played online.

Komrade, I'm thinking you can be more versatile and maybe elaborate more on Castlevania. Don't be Castlevanilla about it.

Ok, here's my answers.

  1. Chess is the longest game I've played when my parents showed me the game. I started in 1989. It requires more than cookie cutting and/or memorization to win. It doesn't fall into speedrunning so for this forum's sake that's Goldeneye 64 would be the next longest. Both games have their fun and challenging value.

  2. Super Smash Brothers Melee is my favorite game though I'm no God at it. I feel it's not as complex as Chess yet harder to master in multiplayer than Goldeneye 64. From my experience SSBM requires more imputs and knowledge than GE.

  3. I'm very competent at games yet have only set two extremely hard World Records in Goldeneye 64. Since I haven't made many public appearance my legacy risks turning into an odyssey. I have a reputation locally of being a strong gamer. I play here in Washington at GE, SSBM, and Chess mostly. Since I spend more time with people they like my practical playstyle. They feel more comfortable to play me when I'm not trying to win all the time. ;)

Thanks for the comments. It helps me keep up with what's going on these days. I'm a 90's kid obviously.

I'm sure there's many people like us/me who have tried many games before. This topic will give us a better idea of who you are and why you like speed running. I have a few questions but might have more later.

  1. What is the game you've spent playing the longest and why?
  2. What is your favorite game no matter how long you've spent on it and why?
  3. If you miss a world record by seconds or minutes or gain one do you think it makes you the most competent?

I'll answer after other people do.

I have no fear. I'm not trying to lie to people. Chances are other people are more of jerk and/or less skilled than you.

I thought of something untaken at the time on youtube. I'm the first person to pick the name Greatermaxim. It fits my personality of games and has continued since then. Grandfathering information and/or multi accounting don't apply.

I don't doubt my ability if that's what you're getting at. My dedication is second to none. Other people have more time at games and/or get luckier with them. There's only so many years for a human to try.

Edit-you can not do Caverns DLTK in 27 seconds so I'd say try harder. Did you come here to troll us or rick roll us with that post? How many other people have achieved the record and which one are you referring to?

The closest I have is DnD though if you consider Terra from FFVI one of these I suppose it counts.

Me: Why are wizards the best class to use in RPGs?

You: I dunno, why?

Me: Because they hold staff meetings.

I've read about this place many times. Though there's quite a bit of places to post speed runs online. I suppose the more places you post videos the more views it might get. I've done some hard core runs setting only two World Records. Real life obligations prevented me from doing better. Watch and enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/user/Greatermaxim/videos

It depends if you want to be methodical, sloppy, or complete? I'm unsure how being faster effects a game not super hard to beat. Yes, doing it fast is the nature of this site. Though saving minutes on a game you understand doesn't make you worse does it? Luck becomes a more deciding factor the faster you go but it doesn't make others less competent imo.

Right now the quickest run I've seen I'd like to do is about 5 hours and 20 minutes. The next one is seconds over 6 hours. I'd like to do a run under 6 hours. A more safer run that makes second place.

It depends on the individual skills and styles too. This game is easy for me after the first three play throughs without the internet at the time. I don't rely on cheating or glitches to do well. This game needed a difficulty setting badly. I want to do a pure run of any %, no math, glitchess, and no resets. That would be harder imo over no deaths.

I think some attacks are counted separate. I've had an over 80% chance of hitting with my Ninja. Both attacks missed. Concentration is hardly used from what I've seen. Though it increases it to 100 percent and gets around mantles.
