This week someone posted some runs on the individual level leaderboard which was unused and I guess added semiautomatically at some point. Technically there is nothing wrong with it and I don't have the power to remove those LBs, so I verified them. I updated the ruling and the categories requirements which were ambiguous (cause they weren't addressed), and made some runs to actually have times displayed which are reasonable in comparison to the any% runs.
I thought that the more sound decision was to have the categories divided by bike. Which is a bit unpleasant since the any% runs play 2 of the races with a different bike, so you never run those with the shuriken400. However this allows to play the race from restart, and doesnt have the arbitrary ruling to run sierra nevada and palm desert with the panda.
For the moment I kept the ruling of the main categories, which is to reset the game (/insert psw) before the run. However if someone wants to use the times from a previous any% run, I will accept the submissions with the video of the complete run and the timestamp, since they're fair times and it's unreasonable to ask to restart running the game for something that was already achieved. I technically could take every single any% run and manually make all the submissions for all the single levels, but i don't think it's appropriated and would probably bring me to insanity.
(I'll probably remove the reset ruling to allow to achieve the times during an any% run. Thinking whether the video proof should include the entire run or not. I accept suggestions)
Hi, i'm unsure what's the guideline for adding a porting to a game. What's the rule of thumb to consider it a indipendent game entry. More specifically I was asked by a runner to add a Game Gear category for the Road Rash Genesis game entry (which I am the moderator of). The porting is the "same game" (besides the technical downgrade of it being a handheld porting) but the gameplay feeling and the times are not comparable. Should I ask him to request it as a new game of the series?
(the series mod is not reachable. I noticed one of the games in the series used variable subcategories to handle multiple consoles, but I'm not sure it's the generally advised way to do it)
