Update to the rules

Runs that are above the video thresholds (Any%: 1:40 or slower, 100%: 2:30 or slower) no longer need to provide proof of version since proof isn't necessary to begin with. Proof of IGT is still required, however.

BEST TIMES

As of December 5, 2020, it is no longer required to delete the Best Times before starting a run. This rule was changed so best times could be preserved, as well as it has no real impact on the run and is slightly faster than having default times.

So looking into the IGT a little more, if I look at my current PB and remove the time before game loads in and the quit out to the home menu, the IGT would be about 4:15-4:16, maybe even lower. But, this is still 2 minutes off of my PBs IGT which was 4:18. I have no idea when the IGT even runs. So yeah, this further leads me to believe that IGT is really bad and shouldn't be used at all for full game runs, not even as an alternate timing method. It should only used in ILs.

So, what was the verdict on the main timing method? From reading this thread it seems like it was going to be RTA but the game is set to IGT anyways?

RTA would make more sense to be the standard for full game runs because:

• Menuing is relevant and important
• IGT doesn't display seconds
• IGT is longer than RTA, so you're tracking the run as longer and less accurate for no reason

I saw this reason in this thread for tracking IGT, however since it's longer than RTA, it includes everything RTA would include and more, so it's pointless. How it managed to become the standard timing method despite this it beyond me. It's fine to use IGT for ILs, but for full game runs, RTA should be the standard.

I also have suggestions for additional categories for this game, but I'll wait to mention those until I eventually do a run of them.

One final note, I disagree with the game's default page showing ILs and not Full Game Runs. I get that this game works well for ILs, but just because it can be doesn't mean it should be the main view. ILs as the main view work best for games that don't make sense for full game runs or there is no end goal. This isn't the case for this game in both regards. I think it looks very unappealing to show ILs as the default view, especially since most of the ILs are empty anyways...

Hi, so I started doing my first runs of this last night, and had some suggestions for the leaderboards to make them more presentable and cleaned up.

1. The main category is unnecessarily worded, as the mode in game is just called "Multi Mission", and doesn't have hyphens. Specifying "Main Game" is irrelevant.

2. Having Misc categories for a game with one main category is just ugly and unneeded. There are way too many options in the drop-down that could be condensed into a single main category called "Single Mission", with subcategories for each table. Magmoor isn't technically part of Single Mission, but having a separate category for Wireless Mission for Magmoor might be unnecessary. Also, Magmoor is misspelled.

3. Adding a new main category that completes Level 3 of every game mode in a table, specifically for Pirate Frigate and Tallon Overworld, each one having their own subcategory. This is more of a completion category. The category could be called "All Modes" or "Max Modes". Timing begins when you select the table and ends when you collect the final Special from completing the last mode on Level 3. This is done on Single Mission. If a moderator would like me to do a run and provide a video demonstrating the category before considering adding this, I will make one.

EMULATOR RUNS

If an emulator was used, indication of that use is mandatory. • Specify which emulator was used in the "Comment" submission section. • Allowed emulators are: Mednafen, Xebra, and ePSXe 1.9.0/1.9.25/2.0.0.

Any previously accepted runs that did not use the above emulators will be grandfathered in, but any new submissions will require one of these emulators to be used.

DISC-LESS PC RUNS

A new version of the PC Rip has been added to the resources. This version is an improved version of the previous PC Rip, in that cutscenes will now play. This is significant as it makes running without a disc identical to playing with a disc. Cutscenes are obviously skippable and add minor time to those runs that didn't have cutscenes, but now runs are 100% comparable.

Since this version has been confirmed to work, it has replaced the old version. All previous runs that used the old Rip without cutscenes will be grandfathered in, but any future submissions will REQUIRE this version to be used to be accepted. This does not affect those who run on disc already, as cutscenes normally play when using the disc.

Instructions are included in the download link on how to install it properly.

Rules: Collect all of the translators in the game. This run does not beat the game. Timing for RTA runs as normal.

Name: Alphabetical Boss Order

Rules: Beat the game while beating all the bosses in alphabetical order, excluding Emperor Ing and Dark Samus 3/4. Timing rules follow as normal.

Please do not submit milliseconds when submitting your runs. Most of the time the milliseconds given after the final split are inaccurate without a retime. Milliseconds will only be used in the case of a tie. Just submit the time as minutes and seconds with no rounding. IL submissions are exempt from this rule and milliseconds are required.

@Superboss Due to the low volume and high inactivity of Glitchless, splitting the category isn't necessary. Feel free to do your runs as such but the leaderboard will remain as is.

I just requested Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Category Extensions which I got, but I specified to make it a Category Extension board for Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I got the board but there is no connection. I specified in the Additional Notes to make it a Category Extensions board. The same thing happened when I requested the Metroid Prime Category Extensions board so I'm not sure if the notes are even read. In any case, can this be made into an extensions board? • For new categories, please provide the name of the run to be added, the rules, and a video of the run already done. We want to avoid empty categories if possible.
