The only problem when speedrunning TNMN is that because of all the cutscenes, the unskippable dialogues and the time when waiting for other Neighbors to come, each list of Neighbors (4N, 5N, 6N, 7N, 8N and 9N) have their minimum achievable times. That means that every single milliseconds count to gain few places on the leaderboard. To save some ms, you gotta optimize as much as possible, whenever possible:

1/ You have to know every Neighbors with, atleast, their names and their appearance by heart.

2/ Skip everything you can as fast as possible, like; phone calls and when the D.D.D. guy talks to you. To skip directly, place your mouse on the right of the checklist and at the bottom of the door's buttons.

3/ When the game starts, you should try to remember the whole list and keep track of the Neighbors you let in. Now, imagine that you have Izaack Gauss on your list, and then, he seems to pass in front of you, now that you know every Neighbors you can tell if he is the real one pretty fast judging by his appearance (*there's not a 100% chance *that he is the one you know), if your list contain from 4 to 6 or 7 Neighbors (depending on you), then, You should let him pass if he looks just like the photo below.

If it contains from 7 or 8 to 9 (depending on you) Neighbors you should check his appearance and if it's OK, check his papers really fast. When you let Neighbors pass just from their appearance, so, without checking anything else you should try to get them to pass without even stopping a second in front of you to save time. 4/ If you see Mclooy Rudboys without his hat, consider him immediately as a Doppelganger as he cannot be seen without a hat.

5/ Don't ever use the checklist when speedrunning even with a 8N or 9N list as it will just waste your time since you can't skip dialogues.

6/ When on a 4N, 5N and 6N list run, don't bother checking peoples papers if they are on the list as they have much more chance to be safe in these runs than in bigger lists runs. If they happen to be doppelgangers once don't drop this tip just because it didn't work once!

7/ Train yourself to use the phone as it is unironically one of the hardest mechanic in the game. If you fail once with the phone it can cost you several seconds.

8/ When someone is not on the list but has the right appearance, then you should check his papers, for this, train yourself to look at them as fast as possible.

Correct ID:

Wrong ID: [No Expiration date], remember that there has to be an expiration date and a D.D.D. Tampon for the ID to be correct. Also remember that the game is in 1955, any person which expiration date says a year under 1955 has to be considered a Doppelganger. Same if there is no tampon.

Correct Entry Request:

Wrong Entry Request: [Wrong job], remember that every entry requests has to contain a D.D.D. Tampon only. If there is no tampon the person is a Doppelganger.
