(See my post about retiming runs here.)
Hi everyone
After seeing many new runners submit their IL runs, I decided that we needed a strict timing rule for Rider, to ensure precision and reliability of the leaderboards.
From now on, š²š®š°šµ šæšš» šš¶š¹š¹ šµš®šš² šš¼ šÆš² šš¶šŗš²š± š³šæš®šŗš² šÆš š³šæš®šŗš² while respecting the already existing rules (1st frame = pressing play for main categories and wheels touching the ground for IL / last frame = when confetti particles appear on the finish line).
There are many ways to time your run frame by frame, but the easiest way is with this tool. You just have to post your run on YouTube, then follow the instructions on the tool's website. Feel free to send me or @Oxknifer (lead beta tester) a dm if you need help on how to use it. You can also use any video editing software, like Sony Vegas or Premiere Pro, basically anything that has a frame by frame precision. If you don't have any of that, I'll retime every submitted run anyway, but I'd appreciate if you made it easier for me š
If you have any questions about runs or timing methods, feel free to ask! You can answer this thread or send me a private message.
One last thing, let me know if you think I should retime every existing run with the frame by frame rule or if we should just apply it for new runs starting today. I need to know what's best for you guys!
Thanks šļø
I was timing my runs using that tool to begin with but noticed that you got different results that varied quite a bit. As a rough basis, typically a run's RTA is equal to the in-game time add the no. of flips*0.5 and then subtract about 0.2 (0.16-0.26) depending on the level's start drop. For example on level 10 I get a 5.94 with two flips so 5.94+1-0.16 is 6.780ms. With SPRT I get 6.833ms so the rough formula is pretty close. However you got 6.260ms somehow. There is also a glitch with the ingame timer like 0.2 into the second it will jump to X.60 then jump back, if you land at the finish line on that frame then you "lose" 0.5. I would prefer the last frame to be "When the timer stops incrementing" rather than when the confetti appears it can be hard to see it sometimes.
Well it's not impossible that I made mistakes while retiming your runs... But because you wrote "needs retiming" everytime, and since I wasn't using SPRT at the time, I used Sony Vegas, which is very reliable there's nothing I can say on that. Maybe I didn't take account of the right framerate though...? I don't know. Anyway I'm sorry for that, I can change your times back to the ones you got with SPRT if they look more accurate to you (and honestly, with what you just wrote, they do to me).
And about the finish line, this rule was actually made by TripleStacks before I even was a mod here, but I thought they were precise enough, since it represented contact with the finish line's hitbox. I never noticed this glitch though, I'll look into it in detail and let you know what I think.
Thanks for the feedback it's much appreciated!
Ok great I was trying to time runs for submission and I was timing fine incorrectly this is a very reasonable timing method and i'm looking forward to submitting more runs!!
Actually I agree with what Quar says. A notable occurrence with this bug is in level 13. There were so many times where I flipped and it did not subtract 0.5 from the timer. Most of my runs I consider the world record based on in-game time. Like Rider TM TM had a 7.12 on level 13 and I got a 7.10 meaning I have in-game time world record however I think Rider TM TMs record might be faster. Today I got a 7.58 on level 13 but the last flip did not increment into the in-game timer in the end, even though it said "-0.50" at the last flip. This means that there is a significant number of frames before the game subtracts your 0.5 for your flip. And when you cross the finish line it overrides this command and freezes(ends) the time. So if you flip a few frames before the finish line the -0.5 second will not be added because there is a significant amount of frames before the time updates. That means the in-game timer might potentially be delayed.
Thats just how the game works, if u do a flip and land directly in the finish line before touching the ground, the flip will never count. I think it isnt what quar was talking about.
Ok yeah I have been playing Rider for a year now and all my records are timed with in-game time so they are not as accurate. I have broke a few of Rider TM TMs records as well. I still am working on finding out if the game works differently on android because it almost seems that the timer is faster on android. Which this could lead to the whole game being faster.
I have never seen such difference before, usually IOS times and Android times are both on equal footing, but yeah let us know if you find anything.
Also, I just thought of something: since so many people tend to submit their in-game time for IL runs not knowing that the runs are timed in RTA, should I add a second IL category where flips are allowed? I think it would be quite useless, but if some people really want to use IG time and flips, I guess it's no problem. The current IL category would be "No-flips RTA" with current rules, and the new one would be "Flips IG" where only the IG timer would be considered and ghosts (past high scores) not allowed.
What do you guys think?
Yes definitely this is the category i'm best at and have been really wanting people to add also I have another run to submit.
I have seen some android phones with Refresh rates of 90HZ and every IOS phone runs 60HZ/FPS. At least my phone runs 60HZ and i have also seen 45HZ phones as well. Not sure if this is a big enough effect but I will look in to it and reply in a few days with my research.
not sure about android v ios differences either. and yeah iirc if you dont land your flip before crossing the finish line it wont deduct 0.5, if you had a recording of that buggy run we could look back at it. IGT ILs could be a cool addition to bring competition on SRC, though there is also the leaderboards on VGR https://www.video-games-records.com/rider-jeu-j4653.html and Cyberscore https://www.cyberscore.me.uk/game/2607
I think we should make one for this website. This website is put together better.
Hello everyone, as you may know Rider finally got a sequel:
