Crux Tech Guide (Some FAITH II Specific)

Moving around while using your crux is managed using Crux Tech/CruxiFIX. This not only helps you get a faster time but may help you avoid an unnecessary death in addition.

The following methods may be applied:

- While holding down SPACE key constantly, pause and unpause with the ESC key. Your Crux tech is now active. Simply keep that SPACE key held down.

- Tapping the SPACE key for 1 frame. This is easiest to do using the side of the SPACE key. Tap for 1 frame, you will see John's crux appear. When you tap again but don't see the crux rise in John's hand? You've done it. This is typically faster than the (un)pause method.

- Hold down SPACE key, next ALT + TAB out. Stop holding SPACE key. ALT + TAB back into the game. Crux tech is now active.
Alternatively, clicking out of the game window while SPACE key is first held down, releasing SPACE key, and simply clicking back onto the game window functions in the same way. Just don't hit SPACE key again once having clicked onto the game window. Crux tech is active.

NOTE: Certain enemy interactions and cutscenes remove crux tech. Simply repeat the process to activate it once again.

UPDATE: FAITH Ch. II has different damage values based depending on where your crux hits an enemy (including inanimate objects for exorcism - like the painting). Crux only deals half damage when not facing the target at hand. So, injuring any enemy from the side = half damage. Targeting an enemy head on = full damage with crux.

Secondly, you get about 1.5 seconds of free hit damage on Miriam when she does the floor pentagram. Just move after that second is up to land some extra hits during that phase of Miriam's boss fight.

FPS counter & On-Screen Keystroke guide for Turbo runs

For those wanting to run Turbo, the following ways may be used in order to display and FPS counter over your runs while you play:


- Steam -
On the top let of the Steam client select Steam > Settings.
A new window will pop up with In-Game > FPS Counter.
You can design it and position it in FAITH anywhere you see fit.

- GOG -
Boot FAITH up from the GOG Galaxy client. Press Ctrl + Shift + Tab all at once and an FPS counter will automatically appear on the bottom right of your game for runs.

1. Launch MSI Afterburner.
2. Settings > Monitoring > Tick Framerate Average box.

2. Right-click on desktop, click AMD Radeon Settings then click the Relive tab and look for the “Toggle Toolbar Hotkey”.
3. Press the corresponding Toolbar Hotkey, click the Performance tab, open the Metric Options, and enable the Show Metrics option.

2. Open the GeForce Experience and click the gear icon.
3. Enable the Experimental Features by clicking the check box, then turn on the In-Game Overlay option and click the Settings button.
4. In the Settings overlay, click the HUD layout.
5. Click the FPS counter tab then select the position to where you want to show the FPS counter. Click the Back button when you are done.

Choose your controller and grab the URL. Put this into a new OBS Browser Source.

This is a brief but mostly all encompassing guide on how to run Any% Endings 1 & 2. If you follow this video, you *will* be able to speedrun this game for yourself!

Setting up AutoSplitter for runs

This will be a guide to set up two timers - one for LTR and one for RTA that will run simultaneously beside one another.

Step 1: Download the .asl file and remember its location. (EDIT: Splitter has been integrated into Livesplit. Simply tick the checkbox to turn on the autosplitter. Functions with patch v1.2.2).
Step 2: Boot up Livesplit.
Step 3: Right click > Edit Layout.
Step 4: In the new Layout Editor pop up, click the plus sign icon (+) > Control > Scriptable Auto Splitter.
Step 5: In your newly added Scriptable Auto Splitter, select the location of your downloaded FAITH .asl file.
Step 6: Hit the '+' symbol again and add 2 Timers from the menu.
Step 7: Set one Timer to Real Time and the other to Game Time. Optional: Set Timer Format to 0:00:01 etc. in case you might tie with another runner.
Step 8: Make 3 splits for FAITH II under any names you like.
Step 9: Right click your Livesplit splits for the main menu, and hover your mouse over Compare Against > click Game Time.
Step 10: Finished! Save your layout and splits and play away.
