Hi there,
I'm working on a route for Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque: La legende d'Or, which is the France-only port of Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu (NES) (1987). I understand that generally Speedrun.com uses the English name of a game, and defaults to the home language, often Japanese, of the game if there is no English localisation. I know this isn't a hard and fast rule, but I think with Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque there is a unique difference in that there is a separate version of the game that only exists and was marketed in France.
I'm not asking for mod privileges, as I understand it is generally frowned upon to make that sort of request without even submitting a run. However, I would like to get the conversation going about a new leaderboard for the game as I get the run together.
My reasoning is this:
- Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque is not simply a language translation of Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu, there are enemy/obstacle differences. The Japanese version also has exploits that don't exist in the French version.
- the names are significantly different. You can't search for Les Chevaliers Du Zodiaque on Speedrun.com and come up with a leaderboard. No where in the game does it say "Saint Seiya", nor does it say that on the box or the NES carte.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to getting a run on the boards for this game!

I'm in favour of integrating them into SpeedRun.com because it would result in a more streamlined user experience. Only one account, one website to search, one tab to log into on my computer. Clicking on a person's account and seeing what they're run in speedruns and high scores is better than finding their (potentially different) accounts on two sites. It also opens up the possibility of someone having a username on one of the sites, and it being taken by someone else on the other.
I hear what is being said about the watering down of the name. I don't entirely think it is worth creating a sister site over. Its not like "Twin Galaxies" says anything about high scores in its name, and people came to know it as the authority over time. If we centralise high scores here and the site remains credible, people will defer to this site. It is a matter of credibility not of name.
Overall, I'm just happy you folks are working on it. Keep up the good work.
Hi folks,
Feel free to have me ask these questions elsewhere, if it would be more appropriate. I've been working on a few runs of StarTropics and I would like to submit a PB at some point. I want to make sure I will qualify.
I'm using an emulator/rom setup and recording it on OBS along with my LiveSplit times. If I simply upload the recording to Vimeo and submit a link, will that satisfy the validation process?
Thanks a bunch, Zericc
