I experienced one big problem with these USB Things: Delay. Sure when you split the signal, than the delay at your pc dosen't matter. Getting a RCA Splitter, should solve this problem.
this was only a extreme. I mean the usual alerts, that streamers use. Sure when something fully covers the game, than this isn't okay and i think viewers will also hate this. I talk about 10-15%.
My question is, if alerts are okay and whats the limit.
I saw the fake Todd Rogers run for SM64 and i think this kind of alert is probably not allowed. Who doesn't know the video, here a link with Timestamp (1:50):
Sure i think it depends from game to game, what shouldn't be covered. In Super Meat Boy, the Loading Icon must be visible and i think a run would get rejected, when an alert would cover it by accident.
I don't look for a answer, for specific games. Sure having no alerts over the game, is the best solution but having alerts is for some nice to have.
You also can look for some old capture devices. I have a HDPVR Gaming Edition (ver.1 ) from Hauppauge and it should work, when your TV has the connection for it. I wanted to sell mine but others on ebay sold them very cheap. the only problem is, that the output on the PC is delayed, so its not good for streaming with voice. I mean you can have luck to find some preowned.
I was looking for a new Nick, many years ago, because my old Nick was to short for some sites and it was lame af. I liked Zelda and came with ZeldaFreak. The big Z and F is important and whenever possible, i chose this exact nick. When I created Accounts on Sites that has a worldwide community, I relized that this idea was not new but I never found this exact writing of my nick. I added some numbers and the first variation was ZeldaFreak007 but I shorted it to ZeldaFreak00 and with YouTube/Google i got 0ZeldaFreak.
On my PS3, i accidentally typed ZelaFreak and didn't realized it. Whats funny is that i met someone IRL and he had inside is nick the word "darck", instead of "dark" and he didn't realized it to.
When the rules dosen't specify this, than do it. Sure it should be obvious that emulator specific features are not allowed, like savestates. Also important that you are only allowed to do things, that the stock controller can do. Sure some 3rd party controllers have a turbo button or even macros but that is not allowed.
It's always good to check the rules for each category. in SM64 in the extended Category's, you even need to activate gameshark codes (ex. Non Stop Category). Sure these are specific runs.
Why not making an own category for Emus, like in SM64 or is citra even inaccurate between 2 Runs? Than it makes sense, that this emulator is banned.
I dont have one Zelda game, that i like the most. Sure OOT and BotW are great, but TP, WW (HD Remake) and even SS (without the crappy sword motion controls) are great games. But i have some Zelda games, that i dont like, like Zelda2.
I like Speedruns and it fascinates me, how quick a game can be beaten. Thanks to some SM64 YouTubers and Streamers, I also wanted to try speedrunning. Well today I started 2 Speedruns with a timer and the 2nd one, i recored and submitted it.
I don't think that i will reach the top of the leaderboard but it still makes fun, to get better. I think speedrunning makes a lot of fun, when you dont take it very serious. Everyone should try it and even record their progress.
