Perhaps you could have TAS as another page instead of on the main leaderboards with a description of what a TAS is for new people.
Ampsen, there is discussion ongoing in the Super Mario Maker forums about categories. Perhaps you could put some input there, and if you're serious about helping you could ask for moderation powers.
Last time i saw this topic mentioned the response was wait until 1 week until release, then request it.
The problem I have with IWBTG fangames is that they all seem to be either repetative, like this, or just outright try to kill the player, where as IWBTG attempts to have fun with the player using traps, but once you know they're there you can easily avoid them. Sure there are hard parts, but it's not an impossible feeling of hard, and you get checkpoints nearly every room. I can not imagine how tedious and boring it must have been to do this, and how many hours of attempts he had to go through to get that perfect run.
Would it be possible to get a new catagory for Villain% (All hero and villain levels, as stated in the potential rules thread,) and an IL leaderboard.
The levels for Lego Batman are: You can Bank on Batman An Icy Reception Two-Face Chase A Poisonous Appointment The Face Off There She Goes Again Batboat Battle Under the City Zoo's Company Penguin's Lair Joker's Home Turf Little Fun at Big Top Flight of the Bat In the Dark Night To the Top of the Tower

I haven't seen anything about it here on speedrun.com, so here is a link to a reddit thread discussing Zocktoberfest if you'd like to check it out.

Games are managed by their moderators, some are only moderators because they are the ones who requested the game so only made a section for games they run, others are more invested into the community so they keep everything in check, making catagories for any new runs catagories that come out. It would depend on the game, but if you want a new catagory just contact a mod of the game.
You will need to find a game to speedrun first, something that you like because otherwise you're going to either get bored or frustrated. Starting off I would suggest playing the game through a couple of times just so you know the game, the mechanics and such. After that, if the game has an active communuity, you will be able to find out about glitches, skips and tricks from the games individual page. If the game you have chosen doesn't have much of a community, or none at all, you will then want to go skip/glitch hunting to reduce your time, and then practice, practice, practice.

Not much else to it really. I currently run Lego Batman, which is quite simple on game mechanics if that's what you're looking for, but there is only a small community for it currently (Myself and Tirean.) It'd be nice to have another person on board :)
I believe donations are verified manually. You may have to wait a little while before you're able to do that.
A huge hello to everyone out there. I am Ozotuh aka Aaron Walmsley. I have recently started running Lego Batman, I am having huge fun doing so. I am unfortunatly unable to record my runs at the moment due to my laptop not being the best. (Integrated graphics cards SUCK!) I have however been able to find some large skips and a few glitches for the game, and plan to do so for many more Tt Lego games that I plan to run in the future.
[Psst, if you want to run Lego Batman, I am currently working on making short videos of as many of the skips as I can, so now's a good time to join the Batboat ^_^]
Any% - All 3 Hero Chapters Villain% - All 3 Hero Chapters + All 3 Villain Chapters
Timer starts when you skip the first cutscene. Timer ends when you press "Finish Story" at the end of the 3rd chapter. For consistency, levels must be played in order. Hero Chapter 1, 2 then 3, Villain Chapter 1, 2 then 3.
