Chicago, IL, USASuper Mario Kart (a game in which there's a very large community) only has one moderator and frankly he hasn't been the most reliable person on speedrun.com. I would like to see a few more mods added to the game, and I nominate myself to handle almost all of the responsibility at first. I know several other people would be glad to help, but if you could add me for the time being, that would help tremendously.

While I'm not a huge fan of having to use a separate timer even though there's a timer in the game, I agree that the IGT is terrible and doesn't actually reflect a run. I've been using the IGT for all of my previous runs, so I'd have to do a conversion of sorts before I submit them.

I've tried asking the moderators of WWF No Mercy (N64) to add a Survival Mode category, but nothing happens. They keep adding different moderators (which is fine), but a simple request to have a feature of the game added leads to nothing. There are multiple people who want to have different categories other than Championship Mode, so is there anything that can be done about this?
So, are we ever going to get a Survival Mode category made? I don't specifically know who to contact about that.
Would separate categories be a good compromise? I think running it as fast as possible should have its own any% at the very least.
To piggy-back off of JoshKeys, composite capture cards are pretty easy to find and won't break your bank. I bought a Dazzle capture card for $45 and I paired it with OBS Studio to record directly to my computer.
Fairly easy setup, although I must admit that you'll have to tinker with OBS' settings to get everything to run smoothly, however as far as base recordings are concerned, out-of-the-box bare-bones settings will work just fine.
CAWs in Survival Mode should be allowed because it's you against the CPU and its RNG for over a half an hour, but I'd be okay with them not being allowed in the Championship Mode runs. Or better yet just have separate categories for each, therefore people can pick which one they want to focus on without being forced to do one or the other.
As far as I can see, there actually isn't a Survival mode category (I've asked to have it added, but nothing happened). And I'd love to have it added because I'm fairly confident that I have world records in that category (they're all on twitch/youtube if you're so inclined to check them out).
Survival mode doesn't go on forever, by the way. It stops at 100 eliminations, and I've done it as fast as 30:00 on the in-game timer. I would love to have these scores on speedrun.com, but it's kind of a dead game at the moment...
Rules proposal: CAWs (create-a-wrestler) should be fair game, fastest time to 100 eliminations (total eliminations by both player and CPU, which isn't reflected on the counter on the top of the screen), and I suggest timing the runs based off the in-game timer, not an outside timer which is used on most games (I only say this because the lag can often times be quite bad and runs would be slower than what is actually shown on the timer within the game).
Hopefully someone can add this category at some point...
Our site (www.mariokart64.com/smk) has been around since 1998* and has almost 1,000 unique members (* the Super Mario Kart site actually pre-dates the mariokart64.com domain, but we all merged together in 2006 to make it easy on the entire community). If we decided to jump to every new platform that comes around (like SDA, this site, YouTube, etc...), there would be no end and would destroy the legacy that we've all as a community built together. I agree that if you're new to speedrunning then you're definitely not going to know each and every site for each and every game that exists, but if you look around you'd find that our site is home to every official world record (for time trials), and will continue to be our home for many years to come.
This site is certainly great, but it's just not where we choose to actively participate, since we already have the aforementioned site listed above.
And yes, you're right about us easily beating the records listed here, as Moll proved yesterday...
How does one go about becoming a moderator and adding Survival Mode to the categories?

I'm also looking to run this game, but the category I would submit a run for doesn't currently exist (Survival Mode). I'd be willing to moderate this game as well as compile a list of rules if others would also be interested.
