Oh wow, looks like someone noticed this and added the embedding! Also before I was using a browser extension to redirect youtube.com/shorts to youtube.com/watch (for re-timing and verifying runs) but now that just happens automatically in embeds. Probably wasn't a huge change behind the scenes, but still greatly appreciated, thanks!
It would be nice if YouTube Shorts automatically embedded, like normal YouTube links currently do. Right click on almost any video and select "Copy embed code" to see how it can be done. For speedrun moderation this gives the added benefit of moving frame-by-frame in a video, making retiming a lot easier for games without an in-game timer.
In the video it doesn't reset even after switching difficulties (from easy to medium and back to easy). I think there has to be other visual confirmation, like selecting "start a new puzzle".
When entering the game starting by selecting difficulty it uses the previous game even if no moves have been taken. See this video I made for an example. I think hard resets should be required to stop players potentially knowing the solution beforehand. Perhaps there are other games that do something similar but I haven't looked too closely yet.
Could we get Minesweeper?
It would be cool if it got into longer runs, but it is very risky and precise and saves ~3 seconds compared to doing it normally.
Well, I couldn't make it too easy for ya ;)
(Also I had to beat my unrecorded PB of 17.98s and that was the most obvious time save)
I think Turbowarp only runs at 60fps if you specifically enable it. By itself it should be the same as normal Scratch.
There's quite a few tools to retime runs, I use the YT Interval Timer for most video submissions on other games I moderate. If it's determined that the In-Gamer Timer isn't accurate then you could also default sort by RTA once those have been determined.
If the mods are inactive you can request to become one using https://www.speedrun.com/support/tickets/new
Changing directions just before hitting the ceiling seems to makes that glitch more consistent, possibly because the sprite is changing costumes. It still doesn't seem completely consistent so it might be precise or I'm just imagining things.
Yeah, IGT for full runs isn't super important because it's not very accurate apparently, and the board is mainly sorted by RTA.
I think IGT keeps running whenever the profile is selected, including during the credits. So if you wait awhile to check it out it will be a lot higher than your run.
Are mods even allowed? I'm guessing it's fine as long as they don't change the main gameplay, but I'm not sure.
Not sure exactly how to add a full-game timer since there appears to be just one "timer" variable. However, I did update it so it shows the exact time of the previous level with another variable.
I modded the game to add a speedrun timer: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/953265900/
I think we could use that to set up IL leaderboards for each of the 40 levels.
