Is there a way to use sodium without using Fabric API or is there an alternative mod to help the game run better?

the mods on this site https://www.minecraftspeedrunning.com/public-resources/mods dont  need fabric api to speedrun because fabric api is what cheaters use to hide mods which modifiy the game illegally

Do I just add the Sodium file to the mods folder and it's good to go?
