How to speedrun Killing Floor 1.0 (UT2004 Mod)

You can start measuring your time through the video for the map "kfs-01" when the beginning cutscene is done since that is when you can move around. This also applies to the map "kfs-02" from its first cutscene and kfs-training from its first cutscene. The time for each map ends when the loading screen pops up except for the map "kfs-05". As soon as the objective complete text for killing the boss pops up the time ends there.

You need to know how to open up the developer console. To open the console, press the semicolon key. Do not load maps through the developer console as it can introduce problems due to how the game handles the player's health, armor, ammo & weapon state from the last single player map you played. This would end up getting your run rejected as it would give other players an unfair disadvantage. For example, if you have a desert eagle on kfs-02 when you are not supposed to have it unlocked at that point yet or spawn with the bullpup in kfs-03 when you are supposed to get it later on that level, then that run is disqualified. You need to sadly choose a new game or use resume game option on the main menu.

Recomended Console Command binds (exclude quote symbols): "set input z demorec | set KFHumanPawnSP health 100 | allammo" or "set input z demorec | set KFHumanPawnSP health 100 | allammo | summon xweapons.Transpickup" "set input b ThrowWeapon"

With the health bind and the transpickup bind, you can press z & x to activate those console commands but during a run, you are only allowed to use these two binds during the start of your run on the map you are on. Giving yourself over 100 health is not allowed and will get your run disqualified, and using those two binds outside of the beginning of a run will also disqualify a run.

It's recomended that you hold tab when you win a run in a multiplayer map since the scoreboard actually shows up in those type of maps and that scoreboard has a ingame timer. So to explain this in a nutshell, single player maps use RTA (Real Time Attack) while multiplayer maps use IGT (In-Game Timer). The rmode command is sort of allowed. You can use "rmode 5" which is the default render command and "rmode 6", which is a render command that removes all shadows. The reason you are allowed to use it is because the mod sometimes ignores your brightness settings completely so to be able to see where you are going, that's the reason. Any other values of the rmode command is prohibited during a run.

The b key bind is very useful for the map "kfs-training" because it allows you to drop the grenade right before the sliding doors open of for you in the grenade range training room, which you can pick up before the map tries to strip you from the grenade. You can then use the grenade for the last part of the map to toss it at the door the zombies come from but before you open the sliding doors on the last section of the map, throw it a little before that so that the zombies can walk towards the grenade, this way the grenade will one-shot all the three zombies at once, which lowers the amount of time taken to complete your run on that map. When you see the "SUCCESS. Tutorial Complete" blue text pop up, you can stop the timer for your run.

When you play the multiplayer maps, there is a checkbox that will determine if you can spawn with the translocator or not. Multiplayer map runs can only be done with one player for now. It's important that you use killing floor characters and not unreal tournament characters, at least for the map "kfs-05" because doing that will create a soft-lock on the boss room because the boss will not spawn. Sometimes the game can soft-lock in kfs-05 by disabling your inputs which can happen during normal play as well, which will typically be followed up with a game crash, but it's random and there isn't much one can do to prevent that bug from happening. If your game does crash tho, you can close the game, launch the game and press "resume" to start off at the beginning of "kfs-05".

Doing a change in the rules.

It will no longer be a requirement to upload demos, but it is adviced to keep your demos in a folder inside your computer incase of cheating accusations. It will however be a requirement now to have audio in the video when a video is uploaded of the run.
