Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass Speedrun Guide Co-written by Discord users Pukenukem and Uugr

If you have any questions just hop on the Jimcord and ask! We're always happy to help. You are free to use this guide in runs of your own, no credit needed.

This guide also exclusively uses Puke's route as opposed to Uugr's dumb inferior slower stupid dumb spider web route don't even bother asking him about it it sucks and is slow.

★General★------------------------------

  • Flee every encounter.
  • Don't try to rush through combat, a wrong move can waste more time than being a little slow.
  • Get goon to level 10, and Blob to level 5 ASAP.
  • Bear needs to be level 25 before Buck 2, grind if you need to.
  • Bird dash wastes time.
  • Heal at fountains when you can.
  • Save before every major boss.
  • Re-apply easy mode before every encounter after Sunflower.
  • Splits end on the snap in "Let's Color Today".
  • B = Buck, J = Jimmy, Jo = Jonathon, H = Helga, A = Andrew, Ht = Hitomi L = Lars, P = Punch.

★Cloudy Hill★------------------------------

  • Switch to easy mode ASAP.
  • Revolting Blob:
    • B: Combo -> Attack.
  • If you encounter a puff, take the exp.
  • At the brick wall, press a below it and hold up, wall-clip to the exit.

★Giant Garden★------------------------------

  • Low Level Goon:
    • B: Combo turn 1 -> insult turn 3.
    • J: Poison -> sticky -> attack.
  • In Garden:
    • Go straight down and grab the Jacks, equip to Buck.
    • Go through hole 3, then hole 1.
  • Happy Little Sunflower:
    • J: Bully left bee, B: Attack right.
      • B: Combo sunflower -> Inner Rage.
  • Stay in Sunflower, switch back to Goon after growing the vine at hole 4.

★Wilted Lands★------------------------------

  • Shake Goon twice.
  • Attack Big Enormous in the first tent on the bottom floor.
  • Thugs:
    • Combo + Bully on Deedee -> Grift + Rage Johnny.
  • Punch:
    • J: Sticky -> attack.
    • Insult if white hot rage, skip if mirror.
    • When Punch is at his flee threshold, Insult him then Combo next turn. Give Blob the exp.
  • Heal at fountain.
  • Robin Shop:
    • 10 exits.
    • 8 colas.
    • 8 ants.
    • 1 clock.
  • Emergency exit.

★Beehive★------------------------------

  • Skip the honey.
  • Royal Guard 1:
    • B: Combo -> attack + Insult.
  • Grab the Bee Stinger, equip on Buck.
  • Royal Guard 2:
    • B: Inner Rage.
  • Royal Guard 3:
    • Heal before hand if you need to.
    • B: Inner Rage.
  • Heal w/ colas, Buck should have at least 30 MP for two combos.
  • Switch to Flower.
  • Queen Bee:
    • B: Combo -> attack -> attack -> Combo, last combo should almost finish off the Queen.
    • J: Spam Sunshine, only target Queen.
    • You probably don't need to heal but don't be afraid to.
    • SWITCH TO GOON BEFORE BUCK'S SECOND COMBO!
  • Emergency exit, go Home.
  • Split ends on fadeout after tractor beam.

★Iron Flamingo★------------------------------

  • Monitors:
    • One in Jimmy's cell.
    • One right next to where you start.
    • One in Buck's cell.
    • One at the end of the hallway.
    • Request security clearance.
    • One in the slime room.
    • One in the sitting room.
    • Shake the vending machine.
    • Request security clearance.
    • Go back to sitting room.
    • Go through right door.
  • Deathbot 4000:
    • J: Grift -> attack.
    • B: Combo -> Rage.
  • Remember to press X or ESC when you're in the vent.
  • Split ends on fadeout after tractor beam.

★Legato★------------------------------

  • Heal.
  • Head left to the jail and grab the Shoe Inserts, equip to Buck.
  • Head right and fight Bird.
  • Red Billed Squawker:
    • B: Combo -> attack - > attack.
      • Rage when hyper.
    • J: Bully/High Five.
  • Switch to Blob after hopping the bridge.
  • Turn off encounters.
  • Knights:
    • If: Blob is level 4 or lower, don't grift.
    • If: Blob is level 5 or higher, switch to Goon and grift.
  • Put Sticky Phlegm in a starred slot.
  • Windsor:
    • Sticky/Combo the soldier on the left, attack until dead.
    • Repeat for the one on the right.
    • J: Bird startle/High Five when you need to.
      • When just Windsor: B: Rage. J: attack/startle.
  • Heal.

★Blue Staff River★------------------------------

  • Go south at the crossroads and grab the Spectacles, equip to Jonathon.
  • Thugs 2:
    • Rushdown Deedee.
    • J: Grift Johnny.
    • Try to kill Punch again, give exp to Goon.
    • H: Attack and use Comforting Smile.
    • Jo: Spam Sunshine.

★Fermata Forest★------------------------------

  • Stay in summer, heal at the fountain.
  • Sell the Spectacles.
  • Buy 10 super balls.
  • Grumble Bear:
    • B: Combo -> Rage.
    • J: Bully/High Five.
    • H: Attack/Smile.
    • Jo: Sunshine.
  • Equip Clean Getaway.
  • You should be pumping as many levels as you can into Bear from here on out.

★Mute Notes★------------------------------

  • Heal.
  • Don't spend any money here, you need to save up for Rubik's Whispering Valley deal.
  • Watch Ella sing, (initiate by talking to Boosey, then Helga.)
  • Murder mystery:
    • Start at the top left with Boosey, make sure not to talk to people twice on accident. When you're done talk to Ludwig so his fat brain can solve the case.
    • Don't need to talk to anyone but Ludwig in the bathrooms.
  • Mutt: Save! Save! Save!
    • J: Sticky Phlegm -> HOC.
      • Switch to rampage when the miasma gets bad.
      • Make sure to have Mutt stickied at all times though.
    • B: Combo -> Bully (don't regular attack!)
      • Insult when he growls.
    • Jo: Forcefeed Buck chocas, use a super ball near the end of the fight. Try to converse his MP for an Energize.
    • H: Constantly Smile.
  • HEAL.
  • Split ends when Bucket of Stink starts playing.

★Blood Marsh★------------------------------

  • Head left then straight up from the entrance, switch to Flower.
  • Rotting Jack o'Lantern:
    • J: Sticky first turn. (Like always.)
    • J & Jo: Sunshine spam, choca when necessary. (But try not too.)
    • B: Skip every turn or combo until you need to insult.
    • H: Smile spam.
    • Switch back to Bear before the fight ends.
  • Unequip the Shoe Inserts, Sell to Ms. Robin.
  • Burn the mouth plant and heal, then head down and to the left.

★Whispering Valley★------------------------------

  • Switch to Flower and enter the mansion.
  • Wine -> Mouth -> Blood -> Mouth.
  • Meat -> Seeds & plant -> Right stairs -> Book -> Water -> Bookshelf -> Key -> Flask -> Tooth 1.
  • Right stairs -> Dollroom -> Water -> Seeds & Pottery -> Meat extract -> Library -> Thickener -> Mouth -> Tooth 2.
  • Left stairs -> Darkroom -> Tooth 3.
  • Doll + shards -> Tooth 4.
  • Unlock the tooth door.
  • Switch to Bird.
  • Turnbuckle:
    • J: Sticky -> Bird startles -> Switch to Bear before the fight ends.
    • B: Combo -> Bully (don't regular attack!)
    • H: NEVER ATTACK, guard or heal/revive when you need to.
    • Jo: Constantly spam super balls.
    • Always guard when the presents open, elaborate dance if in Bird.
  • Equip Reckless Charge and the Loaded Dice on Buck.
  • Exit and reenter Whispering Valley.
  • Take the Rubik deal (10 super balls).

★Ashby's★------------------------------

  • Buy Pulverizing Light and equip to Buck.
  • 50's Style Vampire:
    • B: Reckless Charge -> Pulverizing Light.
    • J: HOC.
    • H: Smile spam.
    • Guard when he taunts.
  • Switch to Goon before Jonathon.
  • Jonathon Bear:
    • B: Reckless Charge -> Pulverizing Light/Combo/Insult.
    • J: Grift -> Sticky (end fight in bear).
    • H: Megamom heals.
  • Split ends when Beep Beep Boop Village starts playing.

★Castle Dragon★------------------------------

  • Equip the Loaded Dice to Jimmy.
  • Go outside immediately then talk to Mulgren.
  • Grab the Rabbit's foot in Northern King's March and equip on Jimmy.
  • Stay in Blob for castle.
  • Left door -> save the princess and turn the gas on.
  • Right door -> save the princess.
  • Middle door -> save the princess, light the gas and enter the mirror.
  • Go back through the left door to the princess room, grab the Dragon Fang and swap out the Jacks on Jimmy.
  • Go back through the mirror to the present and enter the middle top door.
  • Switch to Ghost.
  • Dragon:
    • J: Mana Burn -> Hoc.
    • H: Heal.
    • L: Undulate -> Counter stance, guard when the Dragon taunt.
    • Everybody guard when toothy grin.
  • Emergency exit.

★Arena★------------------------------

  • This is a long split of nothing.
  • Be efficient with talking to everybody, go from top left, to bottom left, to bottom right, to top right, to the guard.
  • Monk:
    • Rampage.
  • Switch to Ghost.
  • Deedee, Helga.
    • Mana Burn -> Rampage.
  • Punch.
    • Mana Burn -> HOC -> Rampage.

★Everchip End★------------------------------

  • Grab the Vaccine straight right of the entrance to S. KM.
  • Sell the Vaccine to Rubik and buy fire alarms/super colas.
  • Put Rampage in a starred slot, and switch to Ghost.
  • Chancellor Pulating Mass:
    • J: Mana Burn -> Bear -> HOC.
    • H: Heals.
    • L: Undulate, (only guard when he chants).
  • Split ends when Air Spirals starts playing.

★Temple of Sight★------------------------------

  • Walk to the end then teleport back, make sure to view the final scene before using the teleporter.

★Path of Enlightenment★------------------------------

  • Down, left, down, left, down, right, up, right, down, right, down.
  • Ignore Calm Valley.

★Legs of the Ancient Giant★------------------------------

  • Floor 1:
    • Straight up, then back down through the elevator.
  • Floor 2:
    • Go left (switch legs).
    • Up.
    • Left (Third Eye, equip on Andrew).
    • Down.
  • Floor 3:
    • Up.
    • Right (switch legs).
    • Up.
    • Down.
  • Floor 4:
    • Right.
    • Left (switch legs).
    • Up.
    • Left.
    • Down.

★World's Library★------------------------------

  • Talk to Lars -> Helga -> Andrew -> Andrew.
  • Head left at Classics.
  • Go down on the walkway.
  • Go left at Periodicals, switch to Ghost before Eyes.
  • Save.
  • Lingering Eyes:
    • J: Manaburn -> Analysis -> Rampage the left eye.
    • A: Afterward Focus -> Cryodynamics left if it didn't die yet, right if left already died. (DON'T FUCK UP WEAKPOINT.)
    • L: Undulate, counter if they glint with excitement, but NOT if the weakpointed eye glinted.
  • Split ends when the "oh, you're finally up?" textbox appears.

★Bonita Vista★------------------------------

  • Give Punch Pulverizing Light and Jacks.
  • On the second floor of the factory head to the lower-rightmost door.

★Shinryu Academy★------------------------------

  • Stock up on everything.
  • Stay in Bear for classes.
  • Remember to cancel the "Would you like to change forms?" text!
  • Day 2:
    • J: HOC the girl, then the guy.
    • L: Undulate + Counter.
  • Day 5:
    • Same thing as day 2.
  • IF YOU DIE TO PPM, and Bear was close to a level then fight the girl in the arcade, then switch to Ghost.
  • Principal Pulsating Mass.
    • J: Manaburn -> Rampage Brain Bat B.
    • L: Undulate + Metabolize -> Guard.
    • Ht: Attack Brain Bat C -> PPM/healing.
    • P: Attack Brain Bat C -> PPM/healing.

★Tetsuya Kawaii★------------------------------

  • Go left and grab the pass from Dilligent Yang.
  • Floor 89: head straight up and nab the card.
  • Floor 90: head left, talk to Mr. makura, head back and then up.
  • Floor 91: head straight up.
  • Give Hitomi the Third Eye and switch to Ghost.
  • Buck 1:
    • Grounded:
      • J: Mana Burn -> HOC.
      • L: Undulate + Metabolize -> Guard.
      • Ht: Starshine/Fists/healing.
      • P: Light/Combo.
    • Flying:
      • J: Switch to Flower and smile spam.
      • L: Undulate + Metabolize -> Guard.
      • Ht: Starshine/healing.
      • P: Called Shot + super balls (use as many as you can.)
    • Grounded/absorbing magic:

  • Use an emergency exit after each section (six total).
  • Split ends when Starless Zone starts playing.

★Space★------------------------------

  • From the platform you head right for all planets except Helga (lower-left).
  • Ice Puzze:
    • Second from the left.
    • Far right.
    • Second from the right.
    • Middle.
    • Far Left.

★The Great Triangle★------------------------------

  • Go to punch's funeral.
  • Head right from the entrance.
  • Use Flower for the first Guppy puzzle, Blob for the second.
  • Switch Puzzle:
    • Just read carefully, last one is same solution Mrs. Fish uses.
  • At the end use Goon to move the sarcophagus, then use Punch to break the wall.
  • Equip Vaporize to Andrew.
  • Nexus point then emergency exit.

★Mad Queen's Dungeon★------------------------------

  • Hedge maze:
    • Up.
    • Left.
    • Down.
    • Left.
    • Up.
    • As far right as you can go.
    • Up.
    • Left.
    • Up.
  • Mad Queen:
    • Mana Burn + Analysis + Called Shot + Rampage.
    • Afterward J: HOC.
    • A: Focus -> Vaporize/Cryodynamics.
    • L: Undulate -> Guard.
    • H: Heal.
  • Equip Sunny Day and the Dream Stone to Helga.

★Kung Fu Tower★------------------------------

  • All encounters here are basically the same, J: Mana Burn -> Rampage + Dream Stone. A: Focus -> Vaporize. L: Undulate.
  • Helga shoud be healing Lars after combat.
  • Don't be afraid to use colas.
  • Once bear hits level 25 equip Sharp Claws.
  • Floor 1:
    • Right -> yes -> yes.
    • Fight next two.
    • No the last one.
  • Floor 2:
    • First one is an insta-win.
    • Fight second one.
    • Yes -> yes -> yes -> no the last one.
  • Floor 3:
    • Left -> up -> right.
    • Both fights unskippable.
  • Floor 4:
    • Right through secret door.
    • Fight next one.
    • Another secret door to the right to get rid of ambush.
    • Take stairs on the right.
  • Floor 5:
    • Right -> first one is an insta-win.
    • Fight the left one.
    • Secret door to the right to get rid of ambush.
    • Fight last two.
  • Nexus point and emergency exit.

★Central Stamen★------------------------------

  • Stop at Shinryu.
  • Heal, and stock up on fire alarms, super colas and EMERGENCY EXITS!
  • Head right and then just follow the spiral inward.
  • Switch to Ghost.
  • SAVE!
  • Angry Jimmy:
    • J: Mana Burn + Called Shot + Rampage + Dream stone + Analysis.
    • A: Focus + Vaporize after analysis hit. switches to Blob.
    • H: Heal/Dream Stone.
    • L: Undulate -> Counter (guard when analysis).

★Nexus Points★------------------------------

  • These can be done in any order, buy more exits and heal when you need to, but make it quick!
  • Rainbow Park:
    • Right.
    • Up.
    • Left.
    • Down.
    • Left
    • Down.
    • Right.
    • Go in the building.
    • Nexus point and emergency exit.
  • Jonathonland
    • Up as far as you can go.
    • Left.
    • Up.

  • Abandonded Cineplex:
    • Right.

★The Pulsating Mass★------------------------------

  • Make sure you have six exits.
  • Consider a stop in Shinryu to sell old equipment and stock up on fire alarms and super colas.
  • Use an exit after each section just like in pre-mass Hub.
  • SAVE!!!
  • Buck 2:
    • J: Mana Burn + Analysis + Called Shot + Rampage + Dream Stone on Buck.
    • If you crit, great! If you don't just struggle through the rest of the fight, relatively same strat as Buck 1.

★Deep Mass★------------------------------

  • Equipment:
    • Buck:
      • Dream Stone.
      • Any damage manuals.
    • Jimmy:
      • Loaded Dice.
      • Dragon Fang.
      • Jacks.
  • The Pulsating Mass.
    • Phase 1:
      • J: Mana Burn + Called Shot + rampage + Dream Stone.
      • B: Attack when not using Dream Stone. Heal when you need to.
    • Andrew:
      • Be more defensive here, just have Jimmy HOC spam with Dream Stone buffs when you can, make sure to heal!!
    • Lars:
      • Called Shot + Rampage + Dream Stone when he sleeps.
      • When he throbs skip your turn.
      • This phase isn't as dangerous, just keep calm and make sure to heal when he attacks.
    • Helga:
      • This is it!!! Don't pull punches, Helga won't die at an HP threshhold, you need to go all the way here.
      • Make sure to insult her when she throbs.
      • Keep your DPS high but be aware of her damage when she motivates herself.

★Credits★------------------------------

  • Inputs aren't over yet.
  • After the credits fucking FLY out that front door.
  • JET through your front yard and back to the opening cliff.
  • Timer stops on the last syllable of "I'm Sorry".
  • Pat yourself on the back! You did it!

★Points of Possible Improvement★------------------------------

  • Buck 1 needs a better strat, the super balls help a lot but it's still slow.
  • A consistent Buck 2 would be great, but it's not a priority.
  • Some way to be able to skip the Dream Stone? Fat chance but there's always a possibility.
  • TPM is still SLUGGISH.
  • Better item purchase mapping.
